SBA Workout Officer

 

United Community is in search of a SBA Workout Officer to join our team. As an SBA Workout Officer, you will play a vital role in managing and resolving past-due and impaired SBA, USDA, and commercial loans. Whether it's analyzing borrower financials, developing customized workout plans, or collaborating with legal counsel and internal teams, you will be dedicated to protecting the bank’s interests while supporting our clients. Core responsibilities include evaluating financial documents, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and administering effective loan workout strategies. With a strong focus on minimizing risk and fostering positive outcomes, you will help safeguard bank assets and deliver exceptional service to our valued clients.


NOTE:  This is a remote positions however, we prefer candidates who are located in the Eastern or Central Time Zones to ensure optimal collaboration with our team.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Engage with clients to assess financial situations and determine the best course of action for resolving past-due and impaired loans.
  • Develop and administer workout plans designed to minimize risks and ensure compliance with SBA SOPs, USDA regulations, and bank policies.
  • Analyze tax returns, financial statements, and other income verification documents to evaluate borrower creditworthiness and recommend appropriate strategies.
  • Manage a portfolio of SBA, USDA, or other government-guaranteed loans, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to regulatory timelines.
  • Collaborate with senior officers and legal counsel on foreclosure status, legal matters, and asset disposition strategies.
  • Request or oversee property inspections and appraisal reviews as needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with relationship managers and other bank personnel to align on strategies and decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting, regulatory, and audit guidelines, including Regulation X, ECOA, CFPB guidance, and Financial Difficulty Modifications (FDM).
  • Participate in compliance training and internal/external workshops, meetings, and seminars to stay updated on best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the SBA Workout Department’s goals.

Requirements For Success:

  • 5+ years of experience in SBA lending, SBA workout, or related fields such as consumer or commercial collections.
  • Comprehensive understanding of SBA SOPs 50-10-7 (or most recent) & 50 57 3, USDA regulations, and lending compliance requirements (e.g., Regulations B, P, X, ECOA, SCRA, BSA/AML)
  • Strong grasp of loans, loan documentation, and legal remedies for challenged credits.
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy proceedings (Chapters 7, 11, and 13)
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools (e.g., Moody’s or Baker Hill) and general office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with a collaborative mindset to create strategies that protect the bank’s interests.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to staying updated on systems and industry best practices.
  • Comfortable working with relevant systems like nCino, Navigator, Director, Shaw, and Baker Hill.
