Position Description
The Learning Experience Designer II, in collaboration with and in service to the Talent Development team, works with business leaders and Human Resources Business Partners to create and deliver learning solutions that support a best in class Teammate learning experience.
This role will support learning design in alignment with the overall Talent Strategy for Atlantic Union Bank. The Learning Experience Designer II contributes to the transformation toward a culture of connected learning, where learning and development occur as close to the work as possible through a robust learning ecosystem comprised of not only formal learning, but also learning through others and learning through experience supported by manager coaching and feedback.
The Learning Experience Designer II is a senior role responsible for leading complex projects and designing end-to-end modern learning experiences that support strategic, targeted Teammate development efforts by applying best practices in adult learning theory, experience design, content curation, design thinking, and learner-centric design.
The Learning Experience Designer II is a member of a cross-functional community that ensures consistency across all Atlantic Union Bank development programs and initiatives.
Position Accountabilities
In this role, your main responsibility will be to lead complex design projects that deliver high-impact modern learning. Additional responsibilities include:
• Be a thought leader and learner advocate, representing the voice of the learner to the business
• Employ adult learning theory, modern learning principles, and instructional design best practices to design learning experiences that meet the expectations of the modern learner
• Leverage, and design in, eLearning tools by using rapid prototyping and succession methods that drive learner motivation, confidence, and competence
• Research and aggregate external and internal content and resources to meet varying learning needs and objectives.
• Distill curated content into simple and adaptable formats, and leverage content management platforms to make materials accessible.
• Ability to identify and track key metrics and data to evaluate the success of programs
• Conduct needs assessments to define skills required for competency
• Manage run-the-business programs to improve the end to end Teammate/Manager experience
• Maintain awareness of and familiarity with vendor offerings and industry best practices
• Consult with internal business partners on learning and development strategy, business needs, and performance objectives. Build and manage key relationships.
Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Manager of Learner Experience.
Position Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree – or higher – in a relevant field of study desired
• Enterprise Learning & Development experience (5+ years) or related field experience desired (i.e., training, instructional design, learning curation)
• Adult learning theory knowledge: degree, certification, and/or equivalent work experience (5+ years in an enterprise L&D environment) desired
• Master’s Degree in instructional design, learning technology or organizational development preferred
• Experience with innovative approaches to curating learning desired
• Experience implementing UX concepts into learning assets and systems desired
• Experience managing a learning community preferred
• Strong program management experience desired
Knowledge & Skills
• Understanding of User Experience (UX) principles and how they impact learning design.
• Creative, innovative problem-solver with a varied skill set: some or all of wireframe, graphic/visual design, write, record, edit, present, etc.
• Design thinking background: data-driven, learner-centered researcher; concept prototyping; test and iterate design; define and analyze metrics; apply insights to improve programs and products
• Proven ability to design and deliver multi-modality learning systems
• Regarded by others as a collaborator and team player
• Thrives on feedback in order to improve self, work, and relationships
• Capable of working on multiple complex projects concurrently
• Comfortable with shifting priorities; you are flexible and easily adapt to changing business needs
• Manages time effectively and consistently, under minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across a variety of audiences ranging from new-to-the-workforce to C-suite executives
• Exceptional attention to detail
Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
