What will this role achieve?

Working across both Grocery and Impulse channels, the Head of Field Sales reports into the Convenience & Impulse Director and is the main conduit between our 2 contracted agency field partners: Powerforce for Grocery and Exsellence for C&I. The role assumes the indirect responsibility and management of c80 heads who represent pladis across c20k retail and wholesale outlets.

This role is pivotal to drive best-in-class execution of pladis strategy to the point of purchase through tailored channel plans and quarterly briefing for large stores, convenience format and depots, through tailored channel plans.

The Head of Field Sales is part of the C&I Leadership team.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Develop and implement the field sales strategy and cascade the annual plan to the team through quarterly brief to cover priorities, actions and targets.
  • Set, track and review performance versus quarterly and annual targets. This includes coverage, frequency, geography, fascia type, distribution, volume, execution and sales delivery, to determine the team impact and ROI vs. spend.
  • Day to day contact with agency management to review and assess ongoing performance and adherence to contractual KPIs, including category data and competitor activities in channel to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Lead the Field Sales tender process of the C&I and Grocery field agency – With C&I due for implementation in January 2026.
  • Partner with the Grocery Customer teams to deliver field support of Top 4 promo plans, best in class execution of key branded campaigns, compliance improvement and sales increase.
  • Deliver the Impulse Playbook Field sales big rocks across Route to market, Symbols and Independents, focusing on core range and NPD distribution, space and visibility, with clear success criteria and parameters.
  • Optimise pladis relationship with Bestway Wholesale and facilitate close collaboration between the Wholesale account team and Wholesale Development Managers to deliver in-depot standards, including stock cover, availability and execution.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the ‘Better Biscuits’ CRM platform and Trade Comms teams to ensure a consistent strategy and approach across Field, CRM and Comms, delivering KPIs of sign-on and platform engagement.
  • Lead the thinking of the Field Sales toolkit, by working closely with Shopper, Category and Brand Marketing to deliver the necessary tools, selling aids & point of sale to drive sales and support best in class product and campaign impact.
  • Lead and develop upweighted tactical field resource to support key events – seasonal, NPD launches, critical brand campaigns.
  • Drive pladis’ awareness of Field sales potential and capability to leverage resources and optimise outcomes.

  • Sales experience and strong understanding of the dynamics of the UK retail landscape across Grocery and Convenience & impulse.
  • Ability to develop an actionable strategy, to implement in outlets.
  • Experience of third party relationship management, preferably in Field sales
  • Strong collaborator, influencing internal functions to support and drive the Field output.
  • Leadership mentality, strong communication skills and demonstrable experience to deliver through others
