The ideal candidate for this Sr Engineering Manager position is an accomplished and versatile engineering leader with a strong technical background and a passion for driving innovation and growth within a dynamic organization. This candidate will be expected to be hands-on when necessary, troubleshooting issues, developing POC applications and effective in leading and mentoring a team of engineers. 

Qualifications

Technical Expertise: 

5 - 8 years of technical experience, 1-2 years of management experience 

Experience and understanding of Ruby and PostgreSQL 

In-depth knowledge of cloud hosting platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Heroku with a solid understanding of best practices for deployment, scalability, and security 

Proficient in implementing and maintaining secure development practices, including familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and other industry standards 

Adept in writing code for POCs, performing effective code reviews, and reviewing system architectural designs with Sr Engineers. 

Some experience with App Ops with regards to monitoring, implementation and support. 

Experience in working closely with Product Managers and have the capacity to understand the product and how the Customer will interact and use the product.  

Ability to understand the intention of requirements and break down the work (Epic to Story conversion for example).

Management Experience: 

Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, fostering a collaborative culture that emphasizes continuous improvement and innovation 

Strong problem solver who is able to roll up their sleeves and troubleshoot issues with the team.  A skilled project manager who can work with the Product Manager and Security team to scope and prioritize upcoming work and meeting deadlines. 

Soft Skills: 

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely. 

Diligent and results-driven, with a focus on delivering high-quality products that exceed customer expectations
