We help developers build successful products by giving them a suite of products to analyze, test, observe, and deploy new features. We currently offer product and web analytics, session replay, feature flags, A/B testing, a CDP, SQL access, and a data warehouse… and there’s plenty more to come.
PostHog was created as an open-source project during Y Combinator's W20 cohort. We had the most successful B2B software launch on HackerNews since 2012 with a product that was just 4 weeks old. Since then, more than 110,000 companies have installed the platform. We've had huge success with our paid upgrades, raised $27m from some of the world's top investors, and have shown strong product-led growth – 97% driven by word of mouth.
We're growing quickly, but sustainably. We're also default alive, averaging 10% monthly revenue growth and with more than $10m ARR. We're staying focused on building an awesome product for end users, hiring a handful of exceptional team members, and seeing fantastic growth as a result.
We are open source. Building a huge community around a free-for-life product is key to PostHog's strategy.
We aim to become the most transparent company ever. In order to enable teams to make great decisions, we share as much information as we can. In our public handbook, everyone can read about our roadmap, how we pay (or even let go of) people, what our strategy is, and who we have raised money from.
Working autonomously and maximizing impact – we don’t tell anyone what to do. Everyone chooses what to work on next based on what is going to have the biggest impact on our customers.
Solving big problems – we haven't built our defining feature yet. We are all about shipping fast, talking to users, and iterating.
Other companies would call this being a Product Marketer, but we're looking for someone with developer experience, so: Developer Marketer.
As a Developer Marketer, your job is to distil the sometimes chaotic happenings within PostHog into launch plans, email announcements, ad concepts, changelog entries, and more. You'll focus on driving awareness, adoption, and engagement of all our products, and you'll use a mix of strong communication and engineering skills to do it. You'll collaborate with our sales team, engineers, marketers, and users to strengthen our position as the default all-in-one devtool.
In Q2, we already have 7 new launches planned. They will each be entering markets with billion-dollar competitors, and it's up to you to help them break through and succeed.
Marketers at PostHog are hands-on, T-shaped people who take on varied responsibilities to support users and other teams. You’ll be one of the key voices for our company and will be comfortable being very visible to users, often taking the lead on our newest launches or weirdest ideas.
GTM: You'll plan and implement the GTM plan for 50% of new products on our roadmap
Co-marketing: You'll own marketing for the CDP product, leading co-marketing and announcements for all new integrations. Your developer experience will come in handy here!
Partnerships: You'll explore partnership opportunities with external companies that can help us increase our reach
Writing: You'll write great copy and, importantly, own our changelog for smaller product announcements
❌ Writing whitepapers, mission statements, or brand guidelines that nobody asked for.
❌ Focusing on strategy alone. You'll need to make the plan, then do the plan.
❌ Spending multiple quarters planning big projects that don't have an immediate impact.
❌ Running yawn-worthy webinars and bombarding users with invitations to attend.
❌ Chasing vanity metrics or asking people to swap their email for your exec summary.
Excellent writing, researching, and communication skills
Development experience, though not necessarily in a formal role
Experience targeting developers as customers or writing for technical audiences
Experience running email campaigns, GTM campaigns, sales partnerships
Familiarity or experience with data warehouses, CDPs and things like Clickhouse
Experience working as a product marketer, growth marketer, or content marketer
💰 Generous, transparent compensation and employee-friendly equity in PostHog
🌴 Unlimited time off with a 25 day minimum (in 2021 the team on average took 32 days off)
🏥 Private medical insurance, including dental and vision (US and UK only)
👵 👴 Pension/401k contributions (4% matching)
📕 Training budget and free books
☕ $200/month budget towards co-working or café working and $300/month for team socials
🤝 $100/month budget to provide support to open-source projects
🛫 Regular team off-sites (we went to Mykonos in April) with carbon offsetting for work travel with Project Wren
We believe people from diverse backgrounds, with different identities and experiences, make our product and our company better. That’s why we dedicated a page in our handbook to diversity and inclusion. No matter your background, we'd love to hear from you!
Also, if you have a disability, please let us know if there's any way we can make the interview process better for you - we're happy to accommodate!
