Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position will provide support to Quality, Services, and IT work planning. The Work Planning & Execution Lead reports to the Manager, Quality Programs, with a matrix relationship to IT and Services, and directly supports department management in the day-to-day coordination and technical planning of work activities.  This WPEL acts as a point of contact with other departments and organizations for coordinating work, resources, planning, and schedules.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with technical discipline managers and project teams to plan work that requires resources from the functional area(s) to develop detailed execution plans, analyze critical paths and other metrics to ensure appropriate resource allocation, leveling, and prioritization so that resources are used effectively and efficiently, and commitments/schedules are satisfied.
  2. Support effective work execution in the functional area by monitoring and measuring resource allocation and leveling, supporting the development of hiring plans, and coordinating with project teams and others to address emergent issues to ensure efficient use of resources.
  3. Interface with project teams and other functional organizations on behalf of discipline managers and leads to support schedule status updates, work planning, and functional area inputs to manage change.
  4. Coordinate with the other disciplines (e.g., Engineering, PPD, Supply Chain) and project teams to plan the implementation of approved changes and project/work scopes that require planning inputs from the functional area(s), including the development of detailed scope descriptions and resource estimates.
  5. Provide updates to various audiences on work status, functional area health, and technical and performance risks by means of reports, presentations, and other formats.
  6. Interface and coordinate with cross-functional teams as required to support successful execution of functional area work activities.
  7. Supporting the functional manager, prepare functional area resource estimates and execution plans for new commercial projects and communicate with project teams regarding resource availability and/or hiring needs prior to project initiation.
  8. Support department-wide organizational and business process improvement and standardization initiatives.
  9. Write and review reports, and maintain intra-department communication mechanisms.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education/Certification:  A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required; technical degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8+ years’ experience working in a project-oriented work environment, preferably in the power or nuclear industries, is required. Demonstrated understanding of engineering and/or manufacturing projects and terminology based on past work required. Solid technical writing and presentation skills and good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills required. Working knowledge of scheduling software (Primavera P6 or MS Project) required.
  • Industry Requirements:  Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits: 

The target pay range for this position is $124,531 - $150,138 annually.  The full pay range is $111,531 - $174,446.
