About the team and the role: 

TCGplayer connects hobbyists and hobby businesses to communities. We relentlessly improve the exchange of things and thoughts that fuel passions, providing the most compelling destination and tools for collectible card game enthusiasts and professional sellers! TCGplayer, now a part of eBay, promotes and drives growth of our products and services by connecting a global community of millions of buyers with tens of thousands of retailers in a $25B global collectible hobby market.

At TCGplayer the Product Team plays a crucial organizational role. This team defines features, plans roadmaps, oversees implementation, and measures the impact of every product at TCGplayer. The Product Team acts in a cross-functional leadership role when working with all of the different departments (Technology, Marketing, CX, Sales, etc.) across TCGplayer, and unites them in order to deliver the company's vision and strategy.


What you will accomplish: 

•  Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Drive collaboration with product managers to ensure the product roadmap not only aligns with but also demonstrates the capabilities of engineering, operations, and support teams. 

  • Lead coordination efforts with development, support, and operations teams to harness complementary expertise and ensure seamless execution.

• Technical Focus:

  • Assess and determine necessary technologies to meet product requirements and implement technical specifications.

  • As a technical expert, you will play a crucial role in shaping the product vision, especially for shared systems. You will actively ensure alignment with business goals and influence the strategic direction.

• Market Research and Project Management:

  • Collect and analyze information from existing systems to ensure product features provide meaningful business data.

  • Act as a product owner on core technologies, staying informed about the current state of development, providing updates to stakeholders, and maintaining alignment on timelines.

• Risk Assessment and Team Leadership:

  • Identify potential risks and steer teams away from or develop pathways to overcome roadblocks, proactively working on sustainable solutions and always driving the work forward..

  • Guide project teams by enhancing communication, facilitating meetings, organizing documentation, and inspiring team members to achieve project goals.

• Requirements Management and Implementation:

  • Draft, review, and effectively communicate requirements, ensuring proper Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) for all components and the entire system.

  • Ensure implementation plans match expectations and are understandable to all relevant teams.

•  Continuous Improvement and Documentation:

  • Stay informed about industry technical trends and standards, recommending new technologies to invest in or leverage.

  • Create and maintain documentation on interfaces, usage from an implementation viewpoint, and provide descriptions for non-technical audiences.

•  Testing and Analysis:

  • Work with engineers to analyze data, data pipelines, algorithms, and systems.

  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance from a technical viewpoint.

•  Roadmap Management:

  • Collaborate with operations, architecture, ePMO and engineering to ensure the technical roadmap is up-to-date and adjusted as needed based on shifts in technology and priorities.
     

What you will bring: 

• 8+ years of experience as a Technical Product Owner or Technical Product Manager or Software development, designing and developing software solutions, with experience in Logistics and Fulfillment technologies such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERPs, etc.

• Mastery in technical product management and development methodologies, including Agile and contemporary customer- and design-centric practices, including the ability to establish standards and conventions for informed decisions, dependency management, and portfolio delivery.

• Proficiency with quantitative reasoning and modeling, including metric-informed decisioning, portfolio pricing and revenue models, and designing project- to portfolio-level operating metrics and KPIs.

• A relentless focus on customers and solving their needs, with experience deriving objectives from customer insights; a desire to regularly, directly interact with customers, and when appropriate, travel to meet with them, and TCGplayer HQ.

• A self-directed practice and ability to achieve results while proactively seeking out discussion and feedback from leadership, peers, and other team members on major deliverables, portfolio planning, and team processes.

• Experience with product lines analogous to TCGplayer: primarily ecommerce marketplace and SMB SaaS experience (supply chain, data analytics, content, mobile apps, and finance and customer service tooling experience is also valuable).

• Excellent communications skills with the ability to share and ensure understanding of complex concepts to a variety of audiences, both with internal team members and external customers; a bias towards operational scalability and documentation.

• Strong technical skills with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development, mobile and web technologies, and data platforms; comfort with infrastructure and internal systems considerations for successful product development programs.

• Undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in computer science, engineering, or related experience.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
