About the Role:

This Corporate Counsel – LATAM and US position will handle legal matters for the Business Services division of the LexisNexis Risk Solutions group of companies, with a focus on LATAM and US contract negotiation and legal and regulatory matters related to business development and sales efforts.

This is a new position reporting to an Assistant General Counsel in the United States.  It requires a hands-on proactive approach from a business-oriented attorney to resolve a variety of issues affecting our business and our customers, working with functional areas including Sales, Pricing, Marketing, Technology, Information Security, Data Privacy, Legal & Compliance and Product.

The position requires multiple areas of expertise to draft, negotiate and close complex data services agreements in English and Spanish and to advise the business on multiple matters, including regulatory, data privacy, data security, product development, commercial and technology issues.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze, prepare, manage, negotiate, draft, and close complex legal agreements related to data technology services.
• Collaborate closely with sales teams to support commercial activities.
• Engage with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and facilitate transactions.
• Advise the business on customer engagements, contract management, and product development.
• Identify, communicate, and resolve outstanding issues related to customer contracts, product development, data privacy, data security, and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to inquiries from internal and external parties.
• Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems; develop strategies to avoid litigation and reduce risk.
• Support corporate maintenance and help execute business strategy objectives.
• Assist with other legal matters as needed.

Requirements:

• Law degree from an accredited university.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience working for multinational organizations.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish. Other languages are a plus.
• Ability to work closely with sales teams and understand commercial activities.
• Experience with international data transfer and data privacy regulations.
• Experience with payments or financial institutions and their regulators is a plus.
