Software Engineering Manager, Vector Search Services, FactSet Research Systems Inc. Seattle, WA. Manage a team of software engineers or projects within the Vector Search Services department. Duties include: Review product requirement documents; problem solving and working on high-level (operational or architectural) issues to ensure effectiveness of products under direct management; implements and tracks development timelines, and negotiates feature sets with development leads and product teams; sets goals and mentors development of ongoing projects; building vector search services to allow teams to perform semantic search; building RAG-based applications; objectively scoring ML experiments for different strategies to choose an optimal strategy for a certain workflow; creating new libraries to help teams process files and break down files for optimal vectorization and query performance provides guidance and direction to team on software design and implementation; reviews code changes and submissions; presents technical & operational issues to senior management and sets deadlines and priorities for team members; helps to coordinate recruiting, training and new hire onboarding for immediate team.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher, or a foreign equivalent, in Computer Science or a related technical field and 2 years of software engineering industry experience working with Linux, Docker, Python, JavaScript, CSS, DataBricks, MLFlow, vector search databases like Weaviate, LLM, RAG, object-oriented programming, multi-threaded programming, and parallel and distributed systems; front-end application development; working with the product development team on incremental feature addition; and diagnosing and resolving client bugs and issues. Must have full software development life cycle experience.
Basic pay range is One hundred fifty two thousand dollars to one hundred eighty two thousand dollars per year for full –time employment (Mon. – Fri. 9-5).
