About the Role

What’s the mission you’ll drive

Strengthen our transaction monitoring framework to detect, investigate, and report suspicious activities in line with AML and regulatory requirements. The role will focus on analyzing transactional data, identifying risk patterns, and optimizing monitoring processes through database management. The analyst will work cross-functionally with different teams to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory adherence while supporting the company’s growth and expansion.

What you will do
  • Strengthen transaction monitoring processes. This involves:

    • Analyze transactional activities to identify potential money laundering patterns using data-driven methodologies.

    • Develop and refine transaction monitoring rules to reduce false positives and increase detection accuracy.

    • Leverage SQL and database management skills to extract relevant data for case analysis and report generation.

  • Strengthen Investigation and Reporting Practices. This includes:

    • Escalate complex investigations of suspicious transactions to the Compliance Officer, ensuring timely escalations and regulatory reporting(e.g., SARs).

    • Collaborate with the Compliance Officer to ensure reporting meets SAGRILAFT and SARLAFT regulations.

    • Create and maintain detailed case documentation, supporting audit readiness and regulatory reviews.

  • Optimize Transaction Monitoring Efficiency:

    • Identify automation opportunities to streamline monitoring and reporting processes.

    • Utilize data mining techniques to detect emerging risks and propose improvements to monitoring rules / algorithms.

    • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement scalable monitoring solutions that align with the company’s risk appetite.

    • Design and implement dashboards for tracking key transaction monitoring metrics.

  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Legal teams to embed AML transaction monitoring requirements into operational workflows.

    • Support the design and implementation of compliance-related initiatives by providing insights on regulatory requirements, process improvements, and risk mitigation strategies.

What we’re looking for
  • Educational Background

    • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience

    • Minimum 3+ years of experience in transaction monitoring, financial crime investigations, or compliance within fintech, banking, or other regulated financial institutions.

    • Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of local AML regulations, specifically SAGRILAFT / SARLAFT frameworks, and their application in monitoring and investigations.

  • Data & Analytics Skills

    • Experience working with large datasets to detect unusual transaction patterns, optimize monitoring efficiency, and enhance risk-based decision-making.

    • Pattern Recognition: Ability to identify transactional anomalies, assess risk exposure, and escalate high-risk activity.

    • Proven track record of using data-driven insights to:

      • Improve alert detection and triage processes.

      • Optimize thresholds and rules in AML monitoring systems.

      • Enhance automated risk scoring models for more effective case prioritization.

  • Risk & Investigations Expertise

    • Experience conducting in-depth AML transaction monitoring investigations, including analyzing suspicious activities, gathering supporting documentation, and preparing reports for escalation.

    • Ability to assess risk exposure, identify red flags, escalate suspicious activity, and provide detailed recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Collaboration & Communication

    • Proven ability to collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Risk teams to enhance AML monitoring capabilities.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing internal reports, suspicious activity reports (SARs), and regulatory filings.

    • Ability to effectively communicate findings and insights in English, both written and spoken.

  • Nice to have skills

    • Certifications in Compliance, Risk Management, or Financial Crime Prevention (ACAMS, FIBA, etc.).

    • Proficiency in SQL, data visualization tools, and analytics platforms to extract, analyze, and report transactional data for AML monitoring.

    • Hands-on experience with automated transaction monitoring systems (e.g., Actimize, SAS, or in-house solutions).

    • Familiarity with machine learning models for financial crime detection and risk scoring.
