Job Summary:

The Real Estate Intern will provide support for our Real Estate Department. This position will be a paid internship and provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced business environment.  A flexible work schedule includes up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer months.

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Real Estate team to manage railroad projects and ensure compliance with railroad policies, operating procedures, and agreement terms
  • Provide support to real estate specialists in their management and review of utility, rights of entry, and environmental rights of entry applications and contracts
  • Draft standard form agreements, assignments, permits and licenses
  • Review and organize documents in electronic repositories
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of records and client files
  • Research and respond to federal, state, municipal, and private company notices impacting our client’s property
  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Able to apply logical thought processes and organize resources in order to solve issues and meet commitments
  • Proven experience in making decisions and seizing opportunities in the context of business objectives
  • Able to satisfy internal and external customer expectations and developing customer partnerships
  • Proven experience managing and overseeing the entire scope of assigned projects
  • Able to proactively plan, work and market collaboratively, meet project deadlines, and demonstrate time management and organizational skills, as well as handle numerous other business-related activities; interpret engineering drawings, land surveys, and legal descriptions; must understand basic real estate principles
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, land surveys, and legal descriptions
  • Basic understanding of eminent domain real estate appraisals
  • Proficiency with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word)

 

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • College credits equivalent to one (1) year or more toward an undergraduate degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Economics, or another analytical field. 
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher (transcripts required) advanced analytical skills including a demonstrated ability to analyze real estate and legal issues, advanced interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop good working relationships
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree or pursuing a bachelor’s degree related to Real Estate or a similar field of study
  • Experience or knowledge in business principles such as finance, economics, math, real estate, or accounting
