Job description

Our client, a nationally recognized law firm, is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join their Technology, Manufacturing & Transportation business unit. While preference is given to candidates based in Kansas City, this position is open to any of the firm’s office locations or via its virtual/remote platform.

The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in complex commercial litigation and be ready to take ownership of sophisticated client matters from day one. This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a high-performing team in a collaborative and innovative legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of complex commercial litigation: legal research, factual investigation, eDiscovery, drafting, depositions, motions, and mediation.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on high-profile cases.
  • Communicate with clients effectively and provide strategic litigation counsel.
  • Utilize eDiscovery platforms (preferably Relativity) and legal research tools, including AI-powered systems.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, diversity, and proactive legal practice.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • 3–6 years of post-law school commercial litigation experience
  • Licensed to practice in the relevant jurisdiction (or eligible to obtain promptly)
  • Experience with eDiscovery tools (e.g., Relativity)
  • Exposure to employment litigation and AI-based legal research is a plus
  • Excellent legal writing, research, communication, and case management skills
  • Strong judgment and ability to manage multiple high-stakes matters simultaneously
  • Demonstrated community involvement and a collaborative spirit

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $205,000 – $230,000 (Applies to Denver, Oakland, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC; other markets adjusted based on local data)
  • Bonus Opportunities:
    • Associate Performance Bonus
    • Client Development Bonus
  • Additional Compensation:
    • 25% fee
    • 240-day guarantee (prorated after 120 days)
