Job description

LOCATION: Germany, remote or Bucharest, Romania

THE ROLE:

As a Technical Writer (m/f/d), you will create and manage high-quality user documentation for IGEL's endpoint software. You bring solid IT knowledge - preferably in virtual software environments - along with a passion for structuring content, working independently, and writing for both technical and non-technical audiences.

You will be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team contributing to the continuous improvement of our cloud-hosted Knowledge Base (ServiceNow). Your bilingual fluency in German and English will be key in delivering globally accessible content. This is an opportunity to shape one of IGEL's most visible and valuable user-facing resources.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently research, write, and maintain user-facing documentation that meets user needs and supports IGEL business goals.
  • Translate complex IT concepts into clear, structured content for a variety of audiences and skill levels.
  • Continuously optimize existing documentation to reflect product enhancements, customer feedback, and team standards.
  • Develop a variety of content types including How-Tos, Troubleshooting guides, Tips & Tricks, and reference documentation.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, developers, support, our Community, and other stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and consistency.
  • Contribute to ongoing migration and enhancement projects for our ServiceNow Knowledge Base.

  • Deliver high-quality, structured content that is accurate, well-organized, and accessible.
  • Align documentation with IGEL’s branding, voice, and style guidelines.
  • Provide feedback to peers and participate in team reviews and editorial processes.
  • Help identify gaps in documentation and suggest improvements to writing workflows and content architecture.
  • Ensure bilingual content delivery (German & English) where applicable.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to write structured, modular documentation using industry-standard practices (DITA, topic-based writing, etc.).
  • Strong IT background, ideally with exposure to Microsoft, Citrix, or VMware environments.
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Atlassian Confluence and ServiceNow; XML, HTML, or CSS skills a plus.
  • Analytical thinker capable of quickly understanding complex systems.
  • A team-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in both German and English, written and spoken.
