We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Managing Director of Marketing Operations and Governance to join our growing Consumer Bank marketing organization. This role is critical in supporting operational excellence, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards, optimizing marketing technology, and managing key vendors and budgets. The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on leader and cross-functional collaborator who can implement efficient processes, uphold governance practices, and support data-driven decision-making across the marketing function.

Marketing Governance & Operations

  • Instituting best-in-class operational processes, provide consistent and repeatable processes for the team to quickly adapt to changing business conditions

  • Create, maintain, optimize and automate scalable processes to optimize efficiency within the team and establish robust and risk compliant review processes on client facing content

  • Manage the development and implementation of processes, tools, metrics, initiatives, infrastructure, and technology that will support and improve the operations of the Marketing function

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Marketing, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure all marketing materials meet regulatory requirements and brand standards.

  • Maintain marketing review and approval workflows, documentation, and audit readiness.

  • Support the implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices that promote marketing accountability, transparency, and risk mitigation.

  • Develop and maintain a Marketing Governance Framework that defines roles, responsibilities, and decision rights across marketing activities.

  • Build processes and implement tools to ensure consistent use of approved disclosures, disclaimers, templates, and customer-facing language across campaigns and content.

  • Lead periodic reviews of marketing processes to ensure continued alignment with compliance guidelines and internal controls.

  • Support marketing risk assessments and remediation efforts related to audits, regulatory exams, and internal reviews.

  • Build and facilitate training and onboarding related to marketing governance policies, processes, and systems for new team members and stakeholders.

  • Administer Workfront / Bynder (or other marketing work management platform), including user access, configuration, training, and process optimization.

  • Build marketing data governance requitements, increase data integrity and partner with vendors, IT and data partners to provide insights into database optimization, including data acquisition, list segmentation, and data cleanliness and integrity within CRM and Marketing Automation databases.

Vendor and Budget Management

  • Manage marketing vendor relationships, including onboarding, contracts, performance tracking, and renewals.

  • Collaborate with Marketing team and Finance to manage the marketing budget: track spend, manage purchase orders and invoices, and ensure alignment with approved plans.

  • Provide leadership with monthly budget and forecast updates.

Marketing Technology & Project Management  

  • Develop strategies related to digital and marketing process to improve marketing performance. 

  • Align with stakeholders to assess needs, perform gap analysis, and design a roadmap for new technology and capability development based on business requirements and marketing performance goals. 

  • Consult with marketing teams on the usage of marketing technologies to improve marketing performance to achieve business objectives. 

  • Collaborate with IT on integrating the marketing ecosystem and technologies into the overall organizational infrastructure.

  • Lead creation, analysis and validation of business requirements, translating them into detailed functional requirements and user stories, and defining acceptance criteria and test cases across moderate to complex needs. This includes creating user stories, defining dependencies, impacts and acceptance criteria, and obtaining requirements sign-off from requesting business partners. 

  • Manage projects, implement, govern, and innovate the roadmap for marketing automation platforms and tech stack counterparts.

  • Perform vendor selection, procurement, onboarding, and engage with vendors to implement Marketing technology strategy.

  • Support integration and alignment of other marketing systems and data sources as needed.

  • Partner with IT and vendors to manage ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of the Marketing technology stack.

Specific Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant professional marketing experience

  • 7+ years of direct management experience and/or experience managing large cross-functional teams with dotted line reporting structures

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field preferred or equivalent in related work experience; MBA preferred

  • Experience in financial services

  • Extensive knowledge of marketing operations and governance

  • Hands-on experience in marketing operations, digital marketing, technology, and marketing analytics 

  • Superior communications skills, both written and verbal, to effectively address all levels within the organization.

  • Proficiency in designing, developing, and maintaining processes

  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to prioritize high volumes of work from a multitude of sources while maintaining the highest quality standards, exceptional organizational skills

  • Strong collaboration, initiative and seeking to create new ways to challenge the status quo

  • Articulate and creative communicator; ability to explain complex concepts to a wide range of audiences.

  • Natural drive for innovation and creative problem solving

  • Ability to travel to one of the following locations as needed is preferred: Southington, CT, White Plains, NY, Jericho, NY, New York, NY.

The estimated salary range for this position is $154,000.00 to $180,000.00 USD annually. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
