Responsibilities

We are hiring a Senior Data Analyst for the Quality and Patient Safety team within the Ascension Data Science Institute (ADSI). This role will support Patient Safety and other clinical reporting by creating and delivering data visualization products primarily utilizing Google BigQuery, SQL, and Tableau, assisting with data wrangling, and managing ad hoc clinical data requests.

  • Serves as key resource/SME in collection and analysis of data from multiple sources for the development of reports and statistical information
  • Compiles analytical and statistical reports as needed
  • Formulates, defines and recommends scope and format of reports
  • Provides leadership, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff on how to access reports and interpret data
  • Identifies data trends and makes recommendations for quality improvement
  • Parses, validates and scrubs data of widely differing formats
  • Analyzes structured and unstructured data for business insight
  • Self-directed project management skills based on stakeholder direction

Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience

  • 3 years of experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree, strongly Prefer Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Computer or Information Science, Physics, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Workforce/People Analytics, Marketing Analytics or other related technical or quantitative fields
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to troubleshoot data issues and optimize queries
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Data manipulation: proficient in cleaning, organizing and transforming raw data into structured formats (joins, aggregations, window functions, and CTEs)
  • Programing language knowledge: proficient understanding of SQL syntax, Google Cloud Platform experience a plus
  • Healthcare Data Experience (EHR, Billing, Claims, Registry, etc.)
