Job description

We are looking for a strategic and technically proficient Business Analyst to lead and collaborate with a team of Data Engineers in delivering scalable data solutions, with a focus on the Healthcare domain. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data engineering workflows, cloud data platforms (especially Snowflake), and data standards in healthcare, including FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources). This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical implementation, ensuring that our data products drive value and meet regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, data engineers, and product teams to gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Lead and facilitate requirement sessions and data discovery workshops focused on healthcare data integration, interoperability, and analytics use cases.
  • Define and manage the scope, priorities, and delivery timelines of data engineering initiatives.
  • Understand and guide the development of ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and analytics workflows, especially those built using Snowflake and Python.
  • Support the implementation of FHIR-based data models, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Analyze data requirements for structured and unstructured healthcare data sources, including EHRs, claims, HL7, and clinical data.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on data quality, security, and governance, ensuring HIPAA compliance and healthcare data integrity.
  • Build user stories, process maps, and documentation to clearly communicate system functionality and data flows.
  • Monitor project performance and identify risks or dependencies that may impact delivery.
  • Facilitate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and coordinate with QA to ensure developed solutions meet business expectations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Analysis, with at least 2+ years working closely with Data Engineering teams.
  • Proven experience in the Healthcare domain, including understanding of clinical data, claims data, and regulatory compliance frameworks like HIPAA.
  • Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures, including Snowflake, SQL, Python-based data workflows, and ETL/ELT principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing detailed business and functional requirements for data-driven solutions.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Lucidchart, or draw.io for process documentation.
  • Ability to perform data profiling, quality checks, and data mapping.
  • Experience in agile or hybrid SDLC environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) with healthcare data platforms or services.
  • Understanding of BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Experience working in or with payer, provider, or life sciences organizations.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities.
  • Proactive problem solver with a customer-first mindset.
  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
