Role Overview
As an Instructional Designer – Customer Education at Thunkable, you will play a pivotal role in crafting engaging and effective learning experiences that enable our diverse user base to maximize the potential of our platform. Your efforts will directly enhance customer onboarding, product adoption, and overall satisfaction by creating educational content that simplifies the app development process for non-technical users.
Key Responsibilities
Develop Engaging Learning Content: Design and produce instructional materials such as e-learning courses, interactive tutorials, video guides, and comprehensive documentation tailored to Thunkable's diverse user base.
Enhance Customer Onboarding: Create structured learning paths and resources that facilitate a smooth and efficient onboarding experience for new users, accelerating their journey from idea to published app.
Promote Self-Service Education: Develop on-demand training materials that empower users to learn at their own pace, reducing the need for direct support and fostering a culture of independent learning.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, customer success, and support teams to ensure educational content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with product developments and user needs.
Leverage User Feedback: Continuously assess and refine educational materials based on user feedback, engagement metrics, and support inquiries to enhance their effectiveness and relevance.
Utilize Modern Educational Tools: Employ AI, Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and multimedia software to create and deliver high-quality educational content.
Required Qualifications
Experience in Instructional Design: Minimum of 3 years in instructional design, e-learning development, or customer education, preferably within a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
Proficiency with E-Learning Tools: Skilled in using tools such as Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, or similar for content creation.
Strong Understanding of Instructional Design Principles: Familiarity with adult learning theories, microlearning strategies, and self-paced training methodologies.
Technical Aptitude: Ability to grasp and explain complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner, catering to a non-technical audience.
Excellent Communication Skills: Strong writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling and concise educational content.
Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Customer Education for No-Code Platforms: Familiarity with educating users on no-code or low-code development platforms.
Knowledge of UX/UI Principles: Understanding of user experience and interface design principles as they relate to educational content.
Experience with Community Engagement: Ability to foster and engage with user communities to promote learning and knowledge sharing.

This position offers a competitive salary that is based on a combination of factors including location. The salary range for this role in Indianapolis is between $60,000 and $90,000 per year and will be based on qualifications and skills. If the successful candidate is located in a different location or country, the salary may vary based on the cost of living, currency and other local factors. We are open to discussing salary with candidates who are interested in the role and may be willing to negotiate based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
