Job Description: Security Engineer – Data & Automation

Job Summary

We are seeking a Security Engineer with a strong background in Python development and data engineering to support security operations through automation, data management, and visualization. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of security concepts and experience working with data lakes (Google BigQuery, AWS Athena, Tableau), data integrations, Spark jobs, and dashboarding tools (Looker, Tableau).

This role involves developing security-focused data pipelines, integrating multiple data sources, and creating insightful security dashboards to help teams make data-driven security decisions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Security Data Engineering & Integration
  • Develop data pipelines and integrations between security tools, data lakes, and visualization platforms.

  • Work with Google BigQuery, AWS Athena, and other data lakes to structure and manage security-related data.

  • Optimize data ingestion and transformation workflows for efficient security analysis.

2. Security Automation & Python Development
  • Build Python-based automation scripts to process, clean, and analyze security data.

  • Develop Spark jobs for handling large-scale security data processing.

  • Automate threat intelligence ingestion, event correlation, and anomaly detection workflows.

3. Security Insights & Dashboard Development
  • Create and maintain security dashboards using Looker, Tableau, or similar tools.

  • Develop real-time and historical security analytics to support security teams.

  • Provide security insights by identifying trends, unusual activity, and operational gaps.

4. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with Security Operations, Threat Intelligence, and Data Science teams to improve security visibility.

  • Stay updated on emerging security data trends, cloud security, and automation best practices.

  • Optimize security data pipelines to ensure high availability and scalability.

Qualifications & Skills
Required:

3+ Python programming experience, with a focus on data processing and automation.
Experience working with data lakes such as Google BigQuery, AWS Athena, or Snowflake.
Knowledge of Spark jobs for large-scale data management.
Hands-on experience in creating dashboards and visualizations using Looker, Tableau, or similar tools.
Understanding of basic security concepts (SIEM, threat intelligence, security monitoring).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for handling security-related data.

Preferred:

Experience with cloud security tools (Google Security Command Center, AWS Security Hub, etc.).
Familiarity with log management and SIEM platforms (Splunk, Chronicle, etc.).
Knowledge of SQL, Pandas, and other data manipulation frameworks.
Exposure to machine learning for security analytics (optional but a plus).
