Job Description

As the Buyer for Special Fasteners, you will play a vital role within our Supply Chain organization. This position is responsible for the strategic sourcing and tactical procurement of a diverse portfolio of specialized fasteners required for our automotive processes. You'll work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure we have the right parts, from the right suppliers, at the right time and cost. This role requires a blend of commercial acumen, technical understanding, and strong supplier management skills to navigate the complexities of the fastener market and contribute directly to our company's success and efficiency. You will be joining a collaborative team dedicated to best practices in procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage sourcing strategies for the special fasteners category.
  • Identify, evaluate, select, and onboard new suppliers based on capability, quality, cost, and reliability criteria.
  • Lead negotiations for pricing, lead times, and contractual agreements with fastener suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively monitor supplier performance for delivery, quality, and cost; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Analyze spend data, market trends (including raw material fluctuations like steel, zinc, etc.), and cost drivers to identify and execute cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering teams on new product introductions (NPI) and specification changes to ensure sourcing feasibility and optimal cost.
  • Work with the Quality department to resolve supplier quality issues and ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Resolve supply chain disruptions and material shortage issues related to fasteners.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain.
  • Strongly Preferred: Direct experience sourcing components.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively on price, terms, and contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in cost analysis and data interpretation. Experience with should-cost is a plus.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Helpful but not required: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Understanding of fastener materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes.
