Senior Account Manager, Education (North America)

We are looking for an experienced relationship manager to join our team as a Senior Account Manager in North America with a focus in the Education Industry Vertical.  This role reports directly to the Head of Accounts Management and has responsibility to drive sales and activity in the acquisition and maintenance of Tier-1 accounts.  

Role Overview:

The Senior Account Manager, Education (North America) will report directly to the Head of Account Management and will be based remotely in either Canada or the US.  The role will be responsible for account management strategy, pipeline development, closing upsell or cross sell opportunities while managing retention. The role will build on an already deep knowledge and understanding of the higher education sector and apply best practices to support accounts through planning, product knowledge and market insights. Through regular client assessment, they will use access to data and problem-solving techniques to identify service and product improvements and opportunities. The role will require a strong, independent thinker who will be expected to meet targets against a monthly plan to achieve results. As a senior team member, the Senior Account Manager is a role model to all peer groups and will work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing and Middle Office team members for a wide array of needs such as product knowledge, conference/client advisory participation and support needs for customers respectively. The Senior Account Manager will work collaboratively with external service partners to enhance Convera’s presence in the higher education ecosystem via product integration and identifying other adjacent needs of the students or universities.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Creative problem-solver with a growth mindset; actively and intuitively seeks ways to simplify process and improve performance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by deeply understanding their business needs and providing guidance on how to best utilize Convera tools to support their mission.
  • Processing and helping clients process payments. 
  • Act as main point of contact for all FX Transactions and Value-Add Payment activities 
    Develop relationships with Decision Makers and Influencers at each organization and build an understanding of each client’s FX and payment needs as it pertains to the current offering we provide. 
  • Identifying new market and strategic expansion opportunities to exceed portfolio revenue targets.
  • Develop a strategic plan for your assigned portfolio to ensure Customer Service is maintained on day-to-day basis while working to achieve annual portfolio Growth Targets.
  • Enhance brand awareness with excellent communication and presentations across all media.
  • Act as an escalation point for existing customer issues in the NA region
  • Understand the values of our partnership relationships and create account management strategies to facilitate deals leveraging them where possible.
  • Supporting Direct Sales teams on Client Discovery to ensure we are matching the products, processes, and pricing for New Business Opportunities.
  • Seek new ways to drive account management efficiencies internally and externally through process and systems that allow us to scale quickly.
  • Acts as a role model and provide mentorship to the team in identifying, sourcing, and developing new business opportunities through existing customer channels.
  • Collaborate with key cross functional teams in Product & Technology, Marketing, Network, Finance, Operations, Compliance & Risk as we transform our approach to serving Education customers in this strategically vital segment.
  • Own the portfolio management, health, and growth of funnel/pipeline new opportunities. 
  • Follow a cadence of Salesforce and other sales operational tools for clear visibility to pipeline and opportunity management. 
  • Consistently champion Convera values.
  • Be forward thinking in the customer problems of tomorrow and approach customers with both foundational and innovative ideas.  

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience in Sales or Account Management roles with proven track record of achieving targets.
  • Must have com experience.
  • Must have a knowledge of payments
  • Proven experience managing Higher Education clients within North America.
  • A proven track record of: achieving targets, identifying new sales opportunities/cross and upselling within existing accounts, delivering client solutions, owning the voice of the customer.
  • Experience in analyzing data and sales statistics to translate results into better sales.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead and build positive relationships and influence at senior executive level, both internally and across the customer base.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across all media
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% throughout US and Canada .

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business administration, sales, or relevant field; Education, FinTech, or Treasury background preferred
  • Bilingual with proficiency in French an asset
