About the Position

The Health Initiative (THI) seeks a resourceful, thoughtful, and detail-oriented Philanthropic Partnerships Manager. In partnership with the Director of Partnerships, this team member is responsible for executing work to enable and support THI’s fundraising strategy and plans to attain our revenue / development goals through best-in-class prospecting, cultivation and stewardship. Specifically, this role has three primary functions:

• support the execution of development materials (e.g., writing briefings & backgrounds, drafting communications to include agendas, reports, preparing slides)

• ensure all activities of the development plan are flawlessly executed

• support the building and maintenance of development systems and tools to support execution of the plans

A successful candidate will thrive in the fast-paced context of issue-based campaigns and/or start-up environments. They must demonstrate excellence in relational instincts, attention to detail, and communication skills.

As part of a small organization, the Philanthropic Partnerships Manager will work closely with all staff, including program staff to support technical content development, operations staff on systems, project managers to achieve timelines, and with the Director of Partnerships to develop and implement strategies for funders and prospective partners. The position reports to the Director of Partnerships and supports the Chief Campaign Officer, Christina Gunther-Murphy, and the Co-CEOs, Rebecca Onie and Rocco Perla to advance the mission.

Responsibilities

Given the dynamic nature of the organization, the responsibilities below are reflective but not exhaustive of what you should expect in the role.

• Conduct background research, engage in ongoing scanning, and provide briefings on current and potential new donors/partners

• Support the preparation of materials for external meetings and deliverables (e.g., slides, agendas, proposals, reports)

• Support execution of cultivation and stewardship plans including managing timelines with Project Managers

• Systematically track all touchpoints and upcoming future engagement with donors/partners

• Research and proof all development communications, including proposals and reports, detailed agendas and talking points, and standard slides for Director of Partnerships, CCO, and Co-founders to use in donor / partner meetings

• Support the preparation of materials for regular internal meetings to ensure excellent donor engagement and stewardship

• Coordinate (with clear guidance) the regular update of development plans, overall path to goal, and regularly updating standardized development materials

This position might be a good fit for someone that has experience in nonprofit fundraising – specifically donor stewardship or relations, prospect research or someone with experience staffing nonprofit executives on relationships and communications (e.g., special assistant).

We are most likely to be interested in your candidacy if you can demonstrate the majority of the qualifications and experiences listed below.

• At least five years of experience working in a nonprofit relationship management function

• Excellent background research and briefing development skills, including experience creating high-quality written prep materials for senior leadership

• Strong and concise written and oral communication skills

• The ability to work independently and as a team member

• A talent for prioritizing and managing multiple projects with short-, medium-, and long-term deadlines; ability to successfully meet deadlines consistently

• Strong ability to translate strategy into plans and execute accordingly, combined with a get-it-done attitude

• Continuous improvement mindset, ability to learn and use new systems and technology

• Good judgment; ability to recognize and successfully navigate ambiguity

• Scrupulous attention to detail while also recognizing that creativity and flexibility are essential for long-term success

• Commitment to and deep understanding of the mission, vision, and values of THI and their impact on healthcare

Compensation and Benefits

THI offers a comprehensive benefits package. THI has a no-negotiation policy and the salary for this position is $100,000-$115,000. In addition to a competitive salary, THI also offers:

This is a full-time, exempt role with some flexible evening and weekend work expected and is fully remote within the US. THI prefers staff to work eastern time zone hours.
