As a Product Specialist supporting Intraocular Lens (IOL) Sales in the Manitoba/Saskatchewan Territory, you will work closely with Surgical Account Managers to implement clinical and technical launch initiatives for new products. In this role, you will be trusted with delivering post-launch presentations, providing training and support for refractive intraocular lenses (IOLs), and communicating advanced knowledge of cataract-refractive procedures and surgical techniques. The specialist supports business relations with accounts and surgeons, focusing on clinical and technical products, and contributes to both regional and national sales targets. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Develop and implement regional tactical plans for new product launches in collaboration with Surgical Account Managers.
  • Deliver educational presentations on new products to customers and support the sales process.
  • Train physicians, clinical personnel, and OR staff on Alcon ATIOL and base lenses, ensuring successful patient outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing support on patient selection, biometry calculation, keratometry, IOL selection, and reimbursement.
  • Foster the perception of Alcon’s products as top-of-the-line through targeted account planning and clinical competence.
  • Assist Account Managers in implementing business plans and identifying further training and support needs for customers.
  • Complete administrative tasks promptly, including CRM updates.
  • Liaise with key target accounts to increase business potential through practice development initiatives and clinical expertise.
  • Support the execution of regional marketing plans, focusing on limited market releases and targeted initiatives.
  • Respond quickly to customer requests, including weekend and evening work travel for conferences and meetings.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • University Degree required
  • 3-5 year Pharmaceutical, Medical or Surgical Sales experience required; experience in Surgical Ophthalmic sales preferred
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Independent, creative and innovative problem solver who thrives on selling in a consultative selling environment.
  • Able to quickly build confidence in customers despite not having long-term relationship as the key group (surgeons) having very high expectations. Low tolerance for mistakes (small customer base).
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Practice Development experience
  • Advanced optic skills (Optical function of the Eye) & ophthalmic surgery expertise; strong knowledge in diagnostic tests and cataract procedure
  • Computer literacy in MS Office environment and experience with a computerized sales administration system
  • Strong sense of business understanding with proven analytical ability, organization, and negotiating skills
  • Must reside in the provinces of Manitoba or Saskatchewan. Ideal candidates will reside in Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, or closely surrounding areas.
