The Opportunity

Our People Safety Team is looking for a Risk Engineer to join the team based in either Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, or Port Kembla (NSW).

In this varied role, you will provide engineering expertise for multiple Health and Safety risk categories relating to safe and efficient product transport for our national supply chain. You will manage and deliver innovative engineering solutions and provide advice for engineering, design and documentation projects.  Working closely with your team as a safety leader, you will conduct audits and identify areas of risk with a focus on Chain of Responsibility compliance across our business, and support operations through coaching and mentoring.

What Will You Do?

Reporting to the Transport Safety Manager, you will:

  • provide engineering solutions, design and documentation of Load Restraint Guidelines and equipment for road, rail and marine transport modes with a strong focus on improving human factors, efficiencies and cost
  • share and implement best practice engineering solutions across our operations in areas of safety, operational efficiency, transport, logistics, and compliance
  • provide guidance, support, and technical expertise to HSE Professionals and Operational Supervisors/Managers through incident investigations and valid and sustainable corrective actions driving safety improvement

As an Engineer who understands safety systems, and has an interest in transport safety & optimisation, you will bring:

  • a Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical or mechatronics preferred, other disciplines considered)
  • professional Engineering registration (CPEng or RPEng accreditation) or willingness to obtain
  • sound fundamental engineering skills and ability to apply in practical applications
  • a commitment to safety, providing support and advice to ensure best practice across our business
  • a history of hazard and risk identification
  • passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and change management
  • strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multi-discipline teams and stakeholders 
  • effective communication and presenting capability
