Job description

MINT MOBILE is seeking a talented Principal Data Scientist to join the Strategy & Analysis! Individual reports to AVP, Data Science. Role is remote must reside in the United States.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Principal Financial Data Scientist will play a crucial role in driving strategic decision-making by providing valuable insights through data analysis, model building, and automation. You will be responsible for leveraging their expertise in SQL, Python, Tableau, to support and enhance our business strategies. 

Identify how we can leverage the data sources available to us to help drive subscriber retention, acquisition and support other teams in automating their workflows.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide critical insights, analysis, and recommendations that will influence our business strategies and decision-making processes.

Your usual day of awesomeness includes:  

Retention

  • Analyze and interpret survival curve data to understand customer retention patterns.
  • Calculate and analyze price elasticity to optimize pricing strategies.
  • Assess the impact of customer and market segmentation on business performance.
  • Work with models for assessing Unit Economics, including revenue sources and costs.

Geospatial Analysis

  • Support teams with custom geospatial analytics for identifying markets for Growth and Churn reduction.
  • Work with network performance data to correlate Churn to Network performance.

Business Strategy and Growth

  • Identify growth opportunities through data-driven analysis and experimentation.
  • Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Measure the impact of initiatives on customer adoption and lift.

Cross-functional Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate effectively with teams across the organization to gather data and insights.
  • Communicate complex economic concepts and findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Work on team initiatives to improve skills, knowledge sharing, and data documentation.
  • Share insights and expertise to contribute to data-driven decision-making across departments.  

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's or Ph.D. in economics, statistics, or a related field preferred.
  • 10 years of experience.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis. 
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, statistical analysis, and model development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Experience in telecom or a related field is a plus.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
  • Understanding industry and economic trends to navigate future uncertainties and guide profitable decision-making.

In support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the range of starting pay for this role is $138,000 - $145,000.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, certifications, responsibility, and geographic location.  We also offer a variety of benefits including health, disability insurance, 401 (k), flexible spending accounts, EAP, education reimbursement, parental leave, unlimited vacation, bonuses, and company paid holidays.  The specific programs available will vary depending on state, start date, and employment type.
