Job Description:

The Director of Revenue Cycle Transformation is a strategic leader responsible for driving the modernization of the end-to-end revenue cycle. This role goes beyond traditional billing operations - focusing on technology-driven transformation, process redesign, and data-enabled strategy to maximize financial performance while ensuring operational scalability. 

Strategic Transformation & Automation 

  • Lead enterprise-wide RCM transformation initiatives including robotic process automation (RPA), AI-assisted workflows including autonomous coding. 

  • Oversee the successful transition to a new billing system, ensuring continuity of operations/continued follow-up on legacy system accounts receivables. 

  • Design and implement automated claim posting processes to reduce manual effort, increase speed, and improve data accuracy. 

  • Stand up a patient segmentation strategy by leveraging data to customize the patient billing process based on each patient’s likelihood to pay their bill. 

Revenue Cycle Oversight & Optimization 

  • Monitor revenue cycle KPIs such as A/R aging, denial trends, and payment velocity to proactively identify improvement opportunities. 

  • Reduce eligibility-related denials robotic process automation and collaborate with operations to optimize front-office workflow enhancements. 

  • Lead integration efforts for newly acquired practices, ensuring seamless onboarding into standardized RCM workflows. 

  • Deliver transparent reporting and insights to senior leadership using data to inform decisions and measure transformation progress. 

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Build and mentor a high-performing RCM transformation team with a focus on innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement. 

  • Foster a proactive, collaborative culture that encourages accountability, learning, and service excellence. 

 

Qualifications 

Education:

Experience: 

  • 10+ years in healthcare revenue cycle leadership roles with a strong track record of process transformation. 

  • Experience leading automation initiatives and system transitions within billing or EHR environments; experience with the Athena billing system strongly preferred. 

  • In-depth knowledge of revenue cycle KPIs, including metrics related to cash flow, denial rates, A/R aging, and payer performance. 

  • Proven success reducing A/R, streamlining workflows, and implementing enterprise-wide revenue cycle initiatives.
