A Brief Overview

Under direct supervision, assists with the routine aspects of designing, developing, testing, implementing, documenting, and supporting big data/ data lake systems, including big data cataloging, modeling, ingestion, streaming, processing, and storage technologies and processes. Has conceptional knowledge of big data, and related source and target technologies and processes; is in the process of developing those capabilities to better execute responsibilities.

What You Will Do

  • Creates and supports the process to pull the information from source systems and place it into the data lake
  • Performs big data development, testing, and documentation
  • Develops and maintains the big data technologies and architectures
  • Applies existing standards, processes, and procedures to big data systems
  • Assists with the creation of big data schematics and layouts
  • Implements effective metrics and monitoring processes, as directed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent education required
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) and/or LOMA certification preferred
  • Desire to develop big data experience, experience with cataloging, modeling, ingestion, processing, and streaming technologies and processes required
  • Demonstrates ability to quickly learn new technologies required
  • Desire to develop Data Analysis skills; Ability to solve standard problem, using education, independent thought, and judgement required
  • Effective interpersonal skills; Effective communication skills, including ability to exchange normal information, while confirming answers to questions required
  • Insurance and/or reinsurance industry knowledge preferred
  • JavaScript technologies (eg, jQuery, Angular, React and Nodejs) preferred
  • HTTP, SSL/TLS, REST, SQL, JSON, and Excel preferred
  • AIX/Linux, Websphere, Weblogic, Tomcat, JBOSS preferred
  • MySQL, Oracle, SOLR, NoSQL, Postgres, Mongo DB and Hive preferred
  • Continuous Integration Tools (eg, CruiseControl, Continuum, Travis) preferred
  • Test Driven Development processes and tooling (eg, JUnit, Mocha, Jasmine, Protractor) preferred
  • DevOps-style deployment tools (eg, Docker, Ansible, Vagrant) preferred

Compensation Range

$65,050.00 - $92,400.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
