Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

We are looking for a motivated Trainee Bookkeeper/ Intern or Graduate to join our remote accounting team. This entry-level part-time role is ideal for students or recent graduates seeking a structured opportunity to develop practical accounting skills.

You will assist with internal bookkeeping tasks including data entry, digital file management, SOP updates, and basic transaction coding. Under supervision, you will gradually begin to support bank reconciliations and indirect tax return preparation. The role includes a formal review at three months, with the opportunity to be promoted to Junior Bookkeeper (CG2) based on performance.

As an ACCA Approved Employer, Chakra Partners is able to sign off your Practical Experience Requirements (PER). After successfully completing your contract, you may be eligible to have at least the following performance objectives signed off: PO6: Record and process transactions, and PO2: Stakeholder relationship management. Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • GL: Handle high volumes of data entry and coding in Xero, MYOB, and QB.
  • Account Reconciliations: Help prepare and reconcile bank and credit accounts.
  • Accounts Processing: Process accounts payables, accounts receivables and petty cash.
  • Practice Reports: Generate computerised internal practice management reports.
  • Document Management: Maintain well-organised digital files for quality assurance and audit readiness.
  • SOPs and Client Files: Update standard operating procedures and maintain briefing notes in the permanent client folders.
  • General Support: Assist with other bookkeeping and accounting tasks as required.

Qualifications, Skills, And Experience

  • Education: B.Com or M.Com (in progress or completed); ACCA students preferred.
  • Certifications: Xero Advisor Certification is preferred but not essential.
  • Home Office Setup: A professional, distraction-free home office with reliable high-speed internet, computer, webcam, and headset.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Effective English communication.
  • Work Ethic: Well-organised, dependable, able to thrive in fast paced environment.
  • Software Proficiency: MS Office 365 and experience with Hubdoc, SharePoint, GDrive, Dropbox, A2X, Stripe, Amazon, WooCommerce and Shopify is a bonus.
