Collaborates with and supports Commercial Unit and business unit leadership teams to define and manage the strategic portfolio of project plans and deliverables aligned to the Commercial Unit strategic plan. In conjunction with the Chief Strategy Officer for the Commercial Unit, facilitates the Cross-Commercial annual budget and strategy planning process. Additional activities may include engaging in other Commercial Strategy and Solutions workstreams, including but not limited to, supporting business development / proposals, managing process improvement initiatives, or Cross-Commercial workstreams, including but not limited to, identifying and supporting potential vendor partnerships that are complementary to Syneos Health’s Commercial business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the development and management of the competitive Market Model, including but not limited to procuring and analyzing benchmarking reports, conducting primary market research, developing and updating an Excel-based model, and creating reports and/or presentations
  • Drive the annual budget and strategic planning process in partnership with the Chief Strategy Officer for the Commercial Unit.
  • Collaborate with representatives appointed to the Cross-Commercial Strategy Council to ensure business strategies are driven by and aligned with Commercial business needs and financial goals for growth.
  • Facilitates definition and development of the Commercial Unit level portfolio of project plans and deliverables with quantifiable metrics to deliver the expected outcomes and objectives of strategic business initiatives.
  • Maintains and evaluates strategic project portfolio progress by maintaining timelines and other tracking/analysis tools. Facilitates regular reporting of progress to the Commercial Leadership Team.
  • May drive one or more cross-Commercial projects, as needed. Independently prepares, coordinates, and presents strategic portfolio materials, as required for Commercial Leadership Team meetings.
  • May coordinate and/or develop presentation materials for executive and board-level reporting.
  • Direct and indirect line management responsibilities for Commercial Strategy and Solutions team members. Potential indirect line management responsibilities for external Syneos Health team members supporting strategy initiatives.
  • As needed, may lead or support additional Commercial Strategy and Solutions initiatives, including but not limited to, go-to-market activities, proposal facilitation, and/or process improvement activities.

Qualification Requirements

  • Master’s degree with 5-7 years’ relevant experience or equivalent education and related experience. MBA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Services side of pharmaceutical/biotech and/or medical device industry strongly preferred. Preference for knowledge related to Commercial Services.
  • Extensive project management experience, including development and maintenance of detailed project plans within a PPM application (e.g., Microsoft Project, SmartSheets).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication, presentation and analytical skills.
  • Strong ability to manage time and work independently.
  • Strong facilitation skills required.
  • Clear ability to explore and implement new technologies (e.g., AI tools).
  • Strong financial acumen and business finance understanding. Ability to develop and analyze financial models.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience operating in a matrixed and cross-functional organization.
  • Ability to mentor and influence virtual team members with varying levels of seniority (potentially across geographies).
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines delivering high quality work in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (approximately 10-25%).

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $130k to $170k. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
