Job description

The Account Executive / Jr Producer is responsible for managing a portfolio of Commercial Marine accounts, focusing on client service, business development, and strategic placement of insurance solutions.

As this role transitions into a more of a Producer capacity, the AE will focus on identifying and developing new business opportunities within the Commercial Marine sector, leveraging industry expertise and relationships to drive growth. Responsible for placement strategy, they will be implementing the "Fewer & Stronger" market consolidation initiative as they make decisions on behalf of the client for which markets to approach and place coverage. The ability to negotiate the best terms and conditions for the client is imperative.

Your Impact:

Client Management:
Responsible for the overall service, placement strategy, and business development of an assigned book of Commercial Marine business, including house accounts with a focus on retention and portfolio growth. Oversees the full renewal process—identifying markets, conducting claims reviews, gap analyses, and exposure assessments—while leading negotiations, marketing efforts, and proposal development. Ensures timely binding of coverage and delivery of executive summaries, debriefs, and stewardship reports. Provides clear direction to the service team and offers oversight on claims and loss control services to ensure optimal client outcomes.

Day to Day Client Service:
Manages day-to-day client service by reviewing contracts with a focus on Commercial Marine-specific requirements, communicating any material coverage changes with carriers, and ensuring client service expectations are understood and met. Acts as the primary escalation point for clients and internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.

New Business:
Drives growth through cross-selling and account rounding within the assigned house book, with an emphasis on Commercial Marine opportunities. Supports Producers on new business prospects with the goal of transitioning into a Producer role, participates in RFP presentations, and leads the placement process once opportunities move into quoting and proposal stages.

Carrier & Wholesaler Relationships:
Cultivates strong relationships with partner carriers and intermediaries to ensure renewals are placed with optimal markets, particularly within the Commercial Marine sector. Supports the “Fewer & Stronger” market consolidation initiative by leveraging RSC’s buying power to secure the best possible terms and conditions for clients.

Corporate Citizenship:
Actively participates in corporate initiatives and helps foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance recognition. Ensures compliance by following documentation procedures to mitigate E&O exposure and supports any corrective actions resulting from local compliance audits.

Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • Current and active P&C insurance license

  • 5+ Years of experience in a Property & Casualty insurance &/or brokerage environment

  • Strong knowledge of Hull, P&I and associated marine lines as well as a demonstrable understanding of other P&C lines

  • Ability to develop carrier relationships, especially within the Commercial Marine market

  • Strong negotiation skills
