Job Summary:

JOB DESCRIPTION – LEAD BACKEND ENGINEER

Location: Remote, UK

Division: Ticketmaster UK

Contract Terms: Permanent, 40 hours per week

THE JOB

In the role of Lead Engineer, you will join the Pricemaster team, focusing on delivering an application that empowers our clients to price their events better. Your role is to lead the development of software solutions that enables efficiency, security and reliability. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust software solutions that meet business logic requirements and address emerging security threats. This includes working with various stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of software solutions with existing infrastructure services.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Ensuring that the software is built by considering robustness, availability and security risks

  • Lead the technical vision and implement the necessary technical frameworks and libraries that simplify the day-to-day features implementation.

  • Design and implement automation, monitoring and infrastructure

  • Continuously optimize services on all layers (infrastructure, platform, software) for high availability, high reliability, and high performance

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members

  • Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Participate in on-call and potentially some after-hours support as required

  • Collaborating with different parts of the team to achieve the expected outcome (Product, Design PMO, etc.)

  • Participating in the design and the development of new features as well as enhancements of existing system capabilities, by always creating value for the user as an objective

  • Promoting a culture of quality within the team by applying recognized software-quality practices

  • Being able to navigate in ambiguity and helping to bring clarity to different stakeholders

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • Solid experience developing production-quality software at a high scale

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science

  • Strong Java programming skills

  • Strong backend development, Multithreading, Thread-Pools with strong OOP skills

  • Strong knowledge of web applications test strategies (UT, IT, UAT, Capacity tests…)

  • Strong knowledge of REST and GraphQL

  • Strong knowledge of multiple database products (e.g DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, MySQL, Mongo)

  • Strong knowledge writing Springboot classic and reactive microservices with Java

  • Strong knowledge of Distributed / Service-Oriented / Microservice and cloud-based architectures

  • Strong knowledge building cloudnative applications on AWS, Docker, Kubernetes

  • Proven track record building architectures for web applications (CDN, API Gateway, Backend For Front End, Authentication, Security)

  • Proven track record working in an Agile + DevOps development environment

  • Strong knowledge of DevOps / Continuous Delivery / Continuous Deployment best practices and guidelines

  • Proven track record of building complete continuous delivery / continuous deployment pipelines

  • Experience coaching engineers and documenting the best practices

  • Strong experience in troubleshooting, debugging, fixing issues and building methodology to prevent them

  • Ability to learn new technologies and paradigms rapidly

  • Expertise in data engineering technologies (e.g. Databricks, Spark, dbt) and practices

  • Has advanced troubleshooting techniques and resolves problems as they occur.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, frequently identifies enhancements.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Actively participates in overall solution and architectural design of the system.

  • Pro-actively reviews various sources of performance, security and quality data to ensure accuracy and identify issues.

  • Is open minded and actively seeks opportunities to try out new ideas and situations

  • Imports good ideas from similar situations experienced within their team or other teams across Technology.

  • Ensures all work is performed to high standards.

  • Experience working asynchronously with colleagues in different timezones

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other teams’ members and clients

  • Ability to prioritize work based on its urgency and its importance
