Job description

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced finance professional to join an international project team on an exciting finance transformation project within Global Specialty Insurance (GSI). As part of the project team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the future of GSI financial reporting, working closely with the CFOs and their respective teams to build a finance reporting structure that is agile, scalable, and adaptable to changing regulatory environments. This team will drive the design and implementation of new processes, systems, and tools, leveraging technology and innovation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of GSI results.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work with multiple finance teams across US, Canada, and Europe to synthesize complex issues into simple workstreams. A successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to work autonomously, organizing one's work toward successful completion of clearly defined milestones they will have contributed to identify and syndicate. The combination of both strong communication skills, data management experience and technical competency in insurance accounting, data analytics, process improvements and optimization techniques is required for the role.

The role will report into a member of the GSI Finance Transformation Team led by Angela Homm and will interact daily with the finance leadership teams across GSI and Munich Re.

This is a full-time project role with a minimum commitment of 24 months; travel up to 25%.

The location is flexible.

Responsibilities include:

1.Chart of Accounts and Data Model Design: Lead the design and development of the Chart of Accounts and Data Model in the ERP system, ensuring alignment with business requirements, regulatory needs, and accounting standards.

2.Reporting Strategy: Lead the reporting effort across the organization, gathering requirements and developing a reporting strategy that meets business needs.

3.Report Design and Development: Collaborate with the ERP implementation team to design and develop reports that meet business requirements, utilizing ERP's reporting tools and APIs.

4.Data Visualization and Insights: Design and implement data visualizations, reports, and dashboards that facilitate data analysis and insights, adhering to data governance and security policies.

5.Data Integration: Partner with the Data Lakehouse team to integrate ERP data into the Lakehouse, creating a single source of truth for reporting and analytics.

6.KPI Development: Work closely with business stakeholders to develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to enable real-time monitoring of business performance.

 

Qualifications include:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree: In a related field such as Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Information Technology.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience: In a related field, with at least 3-5 years of experience in a financial planning, accounting, or financial analysis role.
  • Financial data modeling: Experience with financial data modeling, including financial data warehouses, financial data marts, and financial data lakes.
  • Insurance industry knowledge: Familiarity with insurance operations, finance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Insurance accounting knowledge: Knowledge of insurance accounting principles, including IFRS17, US Statutory, UK Statutory, and GAAP.
  • Chart of accounts design: Knowledge of chart of accounts design principles, including account structure, account mapping, and account reconciliation.
  • Financial reporting and analysis: Experience with financial reporting and analysis, including financial statement preparation, financial planning, and financial performance analysis.
  • Data governance and quality: Familiarity with data governance principles, data quality frameworks, and data validation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, including business users, IT teams, and external partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data issues and develop creative solutions.

 

Desirable:

  • Master's degree: In a related field, such as Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Certifications: Certifications like Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is beneficial
  • Financial planning and analysis: Experience with financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Financial systems implementation: Experience with implementing financial systems, including ERP, financial planning, and accounting systems.
  • Data visualization tools: Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js, and experience with creating interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Programming languages: Familiarity with programming languages, such as SQL, Python, or R, and experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries.
  • Cloud-based financial platforms: Experience with cloud-based financial platforms, such as Oracle, Oracle Cloud or similar familiarity with cloud-based financial services, such as financial planning, accounting, and procurement.
  • Agile methodologies: Experience with Agile project management methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and familiarity with iterative and incremental development approaches.
