Job Description

Nemours is seeking a Research Contract Specialist to join our Nemours Children's Health team. This is a remote position that can be based in Jacksonville, FL, Orlando, FL, or Wilmington, DE.

Under the direction of the Research Agreements Manager, the Research Contract Specialist is responsible for the management and review of research related contracts and agreements. The position is responsible for facilitation and process of legal review, and execution of research related contracts to ensure that the terms are consistent with Nemours guidelines. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert utilizing the Huron Research Suite Agreements module and help ensure efficient processes and procedures to support research staff and investigators. The position will work closely with Research Administration teams, Principal Investigators, Physicians, and other Nemours stakeholders to assure that the appropriate due diligence is performed in the evaluation and execution of Research related agreements. Further, the position will be responsible for providing superior customer service to all stakeholders and associates.

Essential Functions

  • Review and draft favorable agreement terms and conditions with domestic and foreign sponsors, for all agreement types, including but not limited to Subawards, Data Use Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Independent Contractor Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Collaboration Agreements, and Clinical Trial Agreements.
  • Coordinate with various departments to gather necessary information for contract preparation and draft replacement language where needed.
  • Collaborate with Legal Counsel to address complex contractual matters.
  • Ensure contract drafts and negotiations are in accordance with Nemours’ Contract Development and Approval policy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in utilizing the Huron Research Suite Agreements module, maintain accurate contract records, and facilitate the signing and distribution of executed contracts.
  • Knowledge of the necessary operational requirements needed for the efficient and effective development, review, negotiation and execution of sponsored contracts and related agreements, including systems and personnel requirements.
  • Participate in Research system and process improvement projects, including an effective contract approval process and contract management process for Research Associates.
  • Collaborate with Research Leadership, Research Administration, Sponsored Programs Administration, Research Finance, Office of Human Subjects Protection, Compliance, Legal, Privacy, and Office of Technology Transfer.
  • Contribute to an office work environment focused on providing excellent customer service and seeking continuous process improvement, including cross training in a variety of functional areas for the purpose of job enrichment and expanding knowledge of research administration.
  • Understand and become knowledgeable in areas of research compliance and research related regulations in order to advise and guide faculty and staff.
