  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Monitors, analyzes, investigates, and reports on information privacy compliance. Directly manages and leads Privacy Analyst(s) in supporting the needs of the department. Helps develop strategies to evaluate and enhance compliance and privacy performance through investigation, risk of harm assessment, and auditing and monitoring activities. Assists in problem identification and resolution that support SHS Compliance Program efforts. Maintains current knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations. Works closely with Human Resources and the Information Security Team.

  • Position would require pacific timezone hours.

  • Provides oversight and direction for compliance with applicable federal/state rules and regulations and internal policies and procedures. This department is responsible for all lines of business in all service locations.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CPHC) or Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) required within three (3) years of hire.
  • Three (3) years experience in healthcare audit, compliance and/or operations required.
  • Two (2) years leadership experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Experience in health information management preferred.
  • Experience and/or training in the following preferred:
    • Data warehouse technology.
    • MS Office, SharePoint and active directory.
    • Hospital compliance and privacy programs, systems and processes.
    • Data analysis and/or auditing tools and techniques.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general and professional compliance periodicals, journals, technical procedures and regulations.
  • Confidentiality - Knowledge of State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain confidentiality of patient and member information. Ability to maintain confidentiality of investigatory work limiting to need to know basis only.
  • Computer Literacy - Working knowledge and skill of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and hospital information systems. Ability to efficiently collect, analyze and display statistical reports by technology.
  • Project management - Ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple fast-moving projects with changing priorities, drivers, and dependencies. Ability to work effectively independently or as part of an integrated team to achieve a goal.
