Position Description

The UK & Ireland sales team at QIAGEN are based throughout the UK, working from home offices and travelling to support customers within different geographic regions. Our team takes a collaborative, inclusive and innovative approach to supporting our customers and matching their needs to the best QIAGEN solution. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Account Manager to join the team to drive and grow sales within the Research market for the QIAGEN portfolio across the Midlands from East and South Yorkshire down to South Wales territory.

The Account Manager will shape and align customer requirements with the most suitable QIAGEN solutions. If you are passionate about making improvements in life possible and developing your career in an organisation that supports internal progression please send an application.

Key responsibilities:

- Budget achievement within the assigned territory. You will be responsible for growing and proactively searching for new business within the assigned territory for Research (Academia and Biotech).

- Identify and interpret customer requirements, and align these with QIAGEN’s extensive portfolio of instruments and products. 

- Support customers through the sales cycle and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction, build trust and develop long term relationships by providing the best possible support and service.

- Effective weekly and monthly planning of field based activities. Report and forecast to the sales manager and via the customer relationship management system (CRM).

- Manage and negotiate tenders and frameworks agreements. Work closely with the Research laboratories and procurement teams to close sales.

- Maintain and expand Research market knowledge including life science technology trends, commercial awareness of competitors, and latest scientific findings.

Position Requirements

- Minimum Bachelor of Science, PhD or equivalent laboratory experience advantageous. A strong background in Life Sciences and a well-developed technical aptitude in modern molecular procedures including DNA/RNA purification, PCR, Next Generation Sequencing, digital PCR is essential. Knowledge of QIAGEN products preferred.

- Relevant experience in the handling of complex sales and selling capital equipment desirable, with a demonstrable understanding of business practice in the Life Science industry and knowledge of relevant markets.

- Experience of creating and executing strategic business plans in a proactive manner to accomplish the planned goals, whilst prioritising urgent tasks where required.

- Committed and dependable team player who can collaborate with different teams and colleagues within QIAGEN.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and engage with customers.

- Located within the Midlands area with a willingness to travel to customer sites 80% of the time. Key accounts are located in Sheffield, Birmingham, Nottingham, Warwick, Cardiff and Swansea.

- Full driving license is essential
