Key responsabilities:

  • Manage the full cycle of month, quarter, and year-end accounting close processes, including journal entries and financial statement preparation.
  • Handle external auditor requests and provide documentation for financial and benefit plan audits.
  • Assist in preparing workpapers for tax filings and compliance reporting.
  • Serve as a liaison with various departments and external consultants to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Benefit options and eligibility vary by position. Compensation varies based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, performance and salary range at the time of the offer.

Responsibilities

  • Full Cycle Month/Quarter/Year End Accounting close process, including journal entries, supporting workpapers, investment schedules, financial statement preparation and account reconciliations for various employee benefit programs.
  • External auditor requests and supporting documentation for annual financial and benefit plan audits.
  • Assist with completion of workpapers and schedules for 990 tax filing and ERISA 5500 compliance reporting.
  • Various Ad-Hoc analyses, flux, variance, and trend, including operating expenses.
  • Treasury transaction processing for incoming premium collections and outgoing benefit claims.
  • Review, maintenance and implementation of accounting policy and procedure documentation.
  • Serves as liaison with HR/Benefits, Benefit Plan Administrators, Bank Trustee, Investment Management, Treasury, and other external professional service consultants.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Non-profit, Trust, Investment Accounting, and Intercompany accounting experience preferred but not required.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including US GAAP.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and research issues.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate accounting and financial information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Strong attention to detail.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve accounting and treasury issues.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in large ERP accounting software (i.e., PeopleSoft, Oracle Financials) and expertise in MS Excel or Google Sheets.
