About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and results-driven Chief Marketing Officer to join our team. The CMO will be responsible for defining and executing the marketing strategy to accelerate growth (demand generation) and brand awareness in the competitive adtech industry. You will lead a talented marketing team, drive integrated marketing campaigns, and work closely with our product, sales, and data science teams to ensure alignment with business and go to market goals. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a data-driven decision maker, and an inspirational leader with experience in both B2B and B2C marketing at scale.

Your Daily Impact as a Chief Marketing Officer

  • Develop and Execute Marketing Strategy: Create and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with company goals, drives demand and revenue, and strengthens brand positioning in the market. Focus on customer acquisition, retention, and product adoption.
  • Brand Management & Positioning: Oversee the development and execution of brand messaging, visual identity, and positioning in the market. Ensure that all marketing materials reflect the company’s vision, values, and unique selling proposition.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, sales, and customer success teams to ensure marketing initiatives align with business objectives, including new product launches, campaigns, and promotional activities.
  • Data-Driven Marketing: Leverage commerce and location-based data insights and analytics to drive customer segmentation, targeting, and personalized marketing strategies. Optimize marketing spend across marketing inititiaves and channels using performance metrics including MQL, SQL, and sales conversions to ensure the highest return on investment.
  • Growth and Acquisition: Lead events (trade & custom) as well as content and and customer acquisition efforts through digital marketing, demand generation, partnerships, and influencer engagement. Drive new business opportunities while retaining existing customers.
  • Customer Experience & Retention: Develop programs that enhance customer loyalty, experience, and lifetime value. Implement initiatives that improve retention rates and reduce churn.
  • Digital Marketing Leadership: Oversee and optimize digital marketing efforts, including website, organic & paid search, social media, content marketing, SEO, SEM, email marketing, and display advertising. Ensure the company stays ahead of digital marketing trends.
  • Content Strategy: Direct content strategy, creating compelling thought leadership, case studies, white papers, blog posts, and other assets that educate and engage customers and prospects driving lead generation & conversion.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing marketing team. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the department.
  • Budget and ROI Management: Develop and manage the marketing budget effectively. Ensure the marketing spend is aligned with strategic priorities and delivers measurable results.
  • Public Relations & Media Engagement: Develop relationships with key industry influencers, media outlets, and analysts. Represent the company at events, conferences, and media interviews as necessary.
  • Crisis Management: Be prepared to manage marketing communications during any crisis or reputational issue, maintaining the company’s brand integrity.

Your Experience and Expertise

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in marketing leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a senior-level position (VP, CMO, or equivalent) at a fast-growing tech or startup company preferably in the adtech space.
  • Minimum of 10 years in product marketing
  • Proven experience in B2B and B2C marketing, ideally within a data-driven, SaaS, or location-based marketing industry.
  • Experience scaling marketing teams and successfully driving customer acquisition and retention in a rapidly evolving market.
  • Expertise in data-driven marketing, marketing automation, customer segmentation, and analytics.
  • Strong understanding of location-based data technologies, geospatial intelligence, and how they can be applied to marketing strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams, communicate with stakeholders at all levels, and build relationships with key partners and clients.
  • Proficient in digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, content marketing, social media, and email marketing.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with sales, product, and engineering teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring a large marketing team.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Data-driven with a deep understanding of marketing analytics and ROI.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a passion for innovation and growth.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively with all levels and functions

For candidates in California, Colorado, and New York City, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont and Massachusetts the Targeted Base Salary Range for this role is $250,000 to $300,000. 

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to work experience, specialized skills and training, performance in role, business needs, and job requirements. Base salary is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
