Job Title: Bookkeeper

Location: Remote (Ability to work within specified time zones as needed)

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support financial operations across various industries. This role requires accuracy in managing financial records, processing transactions, and reconciling accounts while ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and highly reliable, with experience in QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar accounting platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Keeping & Reconciliation
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Categorize and track transactions, ensuring proper classification for accounting and tax purposes.

Invoicing & Payroll Support

  • Prepare, send, and track invoices and payments to manage accounts receivable and payable.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure accurate employee payments.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Generate financial reports, balance sheets, and income statements for internal review and client reporting.
  • Assist with sales tax filings, 1099 vendor tracking, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support audit preparations and financial process improvements.

Collaboration & Technology Integration

  • Use accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, FreshBooks, or Zoho Books) to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Work with spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets) for data tracking, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Utilize document management tools (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive) for record-keeping and audit readiness.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in industries like real estate, construction, healthcare, or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, reconciliations, and general bookkeeping practices.
  • Technical & Software Proficiency:
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or FreshBooks (or willingness to learn).
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling a plus).
  • Familiarity with bank reconciliation tools and payroll software (ADP, Gusto, Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll).

Soft Skills & Attributes:

  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and ability to identify discrepancies.
  • Integrity, confidentiality, and reliability in handling sensitive financial data.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken, 7.5/10 English proficiency; accents are okay).
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with senior accountants and financial teams.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Buildium or property management accounting software.
  • Background in audit preparation and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with international tax compliance and reporting.
  • Experience working with U.S.-based clients or multinational companies.
