Job description

Working at The Adaptavist Group

The Adaptavist Group is a global family of companies with a common goal. We combine the best of teamwork, technology, and processes, helping all kinds of businesses be better today and tomorrow.

We are experts at delivering enterprise software, tailored solutions, and quality services across some of the world’s most trusted technology ecosystems, including Atlassian, AWS, Slack, GitLab, monday.com and Aha!

We make change happen. From anywhere.

What we offer you

We offer an unlimited holiday (PTO) allowance, trusting you to take vacation time that suits your personal life, alongside flexible working hours that empower you to work when it best fits you and your team. We provide MacBooks to all employees and additional support for fully remote workers to set up their home offices.

Our exceptional Time Away Policy includes 26 weeks of fully paid leave for birthing parents, 13 weeks for non-birthing parents, and extended leave for adoption, IVF, surrogacy, elective egg freezing, and women's health needs such as menopause, menstruation, endometriosis, and PCOS.

Our trusting, flexible, remote-first way of working means that work can fit around your life, rather than your life fitting around work.

Join Our Team as a Software Engineer!
Are you passionate about building and maintaining cutting-edge platforms in the cloud? Join our team as a Senior Software Engineer and play a vital role in enhancing the platform that supports our innovative ScriptRunner Cloud products.

About the Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of delivering changes through continuous integration and deployment, using your creative problem-solving skills to meet customer requirements. You'll be part of a dynamic team managing the core technology infrastructure, where you'll have the opportunity to set up build pipelines, select web server technologies, design hosting architectures, and organize repositories.

Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and solve complex problems, identifying root causes to prevent incidents.
- Research and document solutions within Atlassian’s Connect and Forge platform constraints.
- Design systems and architecture to implement scalable solutions for customer requirements.
- Build and test serverless applications, define application stacks, and create automated deployment plans.
- Migrate high-traffic systems to new designs without downtime.
- Monitor and debug services, configure valuable alarms, and analyze logs for performance insights.
- Evaluate systems for operational reliability and identify improvement opportunities.

What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience building and operating systems at scale using AWS services.
- Expertise in high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable distributed systems.
- Fluency in Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong organisational, prioritisation, and communication skills.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience with CI/CD processes.
- Understanding of serverless and micro-services-oriented architecture with REST APIs.
- Innovative and creative thinking.
- A track record of helping and encouraging colleagues.

Why Join Us?
You'll participate in Agile ceremonies, including standups, retrospectives, peer code reviews, and pair programming sessions. Your role will also involve overseeing platform monitoring and scaling, responding to alarms, and managing incidents, contributing significantly to our engineering decisions and practices.
