Job description

Position Overview:

Reporting to the California Executive Director, the Regional Operations Manager, will lead recycling operations in support of the development and implementation of the program plan, ensuring that workflows are managed to meet critical legislative deadlines.  

Primary Responsibilities
  • With oversight from ED, will manage tasks and workflows to ensure deadlines are met for the program plan submission. Consults with stakeholders and compiles information to draft program plan.
  • Work with the ED and National Program Operations team on the development of CAA’s reimbursement mechanism to provide producer funding to local jurisdictions and recycling service providers.
  • Partner with the ED and National Program Operations to build relationships with local jurisdictions, haulers, material recovery facility (MRF) operators and compost facility operators.
  • Works in collaboration with the national Program Operations team, project managers and team to ensure timelines are on track to meet goals of program. 
  • Collaborate with the ED and leadership to support development of strategic growth initiatives 
  • Reviews, analyzes and evaluates business procedures, ensuring harmonization between states and with National organization.
  • Outlines the tasks involved in the program and delegates accordingly. 
  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Plans, directs, implements, evaluates, monitors and forecasts budgets and costs in each work area to achieve financial objectives.
  • Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk.
  • Acts as a liaison with MRFs operators, local jurisdictions, haulers, project teams, and contractors in alignment with CAA and producer interests.
  • Communicates and collaborates with project team and staff to coordinate training and information required to design, build and maintain programs, and systems.
  • Works with the appropriate resources to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, which may include Business, Sustainability or related field required.
  • At least ten years of related experience in recycling, sustainability or related field.
Physical Requirements: 
  • Includes travel to meet with interested parties, including local governments, MRFs, and haulers.

Compensation and Other Information:

  • Location:  Initially Fully Remote,

Salary range is based on a variety of factors in accordance with applicable law, including the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits, life insurance, retirement, and paid time off.
