Summary

As a Senior Key Account Manager, you will build and manage partnerships between Novanta and key customers. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will ensure exceptional customer service, industry-leading solutions, and manage contracts, pricing, and account strategy to grow Novanta's business and achieve revenue targets. Your understanding of client needs and strategic solutions will drive business success. You will work closely with customers' procurement, engineering, quality, and commercial personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement market & account strategies to retain existing business, achieve revenue targets, ensure customer satisfaction, and grow Novanta's market share and revenue.

  • Build and maintain trust and rapport with customers' engineering, technical, procurement teams, as well as executive, enterprise-level decision makers.

  • Conduct regular business reviews and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless delivery of products and services. Analyze performance data to drive actions and adjust resources as needed to meet business goals.

  • Understand customers' technology and product roadmaps to identify future opportunities for Novanta. Collaborate with the New and Emerging Business team on new opportunities and transition late-stage opportunities to production.

  • Negotiate and renew contracts to ensure positive outcomes for all parties involved.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Proven success in key account management, particularly in high-tech, business-to-business (B2B), and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) sales.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with a history of using data to guide decision-making.
  • Skilled in creating technical and commercial reports, presentations, and proposals, and communicate effectively in person, over the phone, via email, and in web-based meetings.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to mentor less experienced team members.
  • Results-driven, customer-focused, self-motivated, and adept at managing multiple priorities with effective follow-up. Proactive with strong time management and organizational skills. Demonstrates proactivity, effective time management, and organizational skills.
  • Confident in professional relationships across all seniority levels, both internally at Novanta and externally with customers, from individual contributors to C-suite executives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) to maintain organization and professionalism in a dynamic, critical role. Proficient in managing business activities and opportunities on a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software platform; Salesforce preferred.
  • Experience in motion control and automation technologies (stages, actuators, motors, linear bearings, ballscrews) or a technical background with the ability to learn and master new knowledge sets.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk.

  • Manual dexterity for using a computer, including typing and operating a mouse.

  • Stamina for frequent travel, including long flights and car rides.

Travel Requirements

  • Expect to travel up to 15-30% of the time, including overnight stays.

  • Trips may range from day visits to multi-day stays, depending on the project requirements.

  • Ability to travel on short notice and adapt to changing schedules.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The base pay for this position is $140,000 to $165,000 per year depending on the geographic market.

  • This position provides an opportunity for competitive quarterly sales compensation based on an achievement to plan.
