Job Description Summary

The Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Innovation (CETLI) promotes teaching excellence and innovation at the University of Pennsylvania. Part of CETLI's core mission is to bolster the people, processes, and technological infrastructure needed to make possible outstanding teaching on or beyond Penn’s campus. CETLI's Online Learning Platform (the Platform) provides the infrastructure and support that allows serval of Penn's schools to reach online learning across the globe.

The Salesforce Developer will work closely with CETLI’s Platform Technology Manager and Business Analyst to manage the Platform, an interactive, e-Commerce platform that enables external users to discover all of Penn’s online offerings (for-credit and non-credit) in one branded site and provides registration, payment, or application support to over 60 non-credit programs across several Penn Schools. The Salesforce developer will support integrations, implement feature development in support of changing business needs, promote system efficiency, and to keep up with innovation in higher education technology. This role will also act as a thought partner and technical expert, manage in-house Salesforce Apex and flows, and play a critical role in the implementation of a new iteration of the Platform in 2026. This is a fully remote position.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, customize, manage, and maintain Salesforce solutions using flows, Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, and declarative tools.

  • Troubleshoot, triage, and resolve complex technical issues related to the Salesforce Platform and integrations.

  • Design and implement feature development in Salesforce Service Cloud and integrated third-party tools to enhance user engagement and streamline processes.

  • Support, maintain, and improve the existing Salesforce applications for optimal functionality. Including, implement third party application updates, actions, and compliance.

  • Back-up Salesforce Platform system data.

  • Meet with CETLI staff and school program partners to assess ongoing business needs and maintain projects.

  • Create and update documentation on completed Salesforce Platform projects and integrations. 

  • Provide Salesforce Platform and integration coverage for the Platform Technology Manager & Business Analyst.

  • Manage Platform Listing Submission Process. Including: utilizing the Platform team's Trello board to manage the listing process and creating new listings in Salesforce QA and Production, and updating existing Platform listings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and 3-5 years of Salesforce experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 

  • Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer I/II, Experience Cloud Consultant, or Education Cloud Consultant.

  • Experience in Agile development methodologies and project management tools like Jira or Trello.

  • Familiarity with Python, JSON, JavaScript, HTML, CSS a plus.
