Simple Technology Solutions is looking for a Technical Writer to add to our team.

Quick Position Overview:

  • This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Role:

The Technical Writer supports the USDA FNS SPARS program by creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. This role ensures that user guides, system documentation, and procedural materials are clear, accurate, accessible, and compliant with USDA standards, including Section 508. This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Technical Writer at STS will:

  • Develop and maintain user manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training guides, release notes, and technical documentation related to the SNAP-Ed Plan and Report System (SPARS).
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, testers, and federal stakeholders to gather information and translate it into understandable documentation.
  • Edit and proofread documentation for clarity, grammar, style, and accuracy.
  • Ensure that all deliverables meet USDA branding and formatting requirements, as well as Section 508 accessibility standards.
  • Support the creation of visual aids such as diagrams, process flows, and screenshots to enhance documentation.
  • Maintain document version control and support document organization in repositories like Confluence or SharePoint.

Education and Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical writer supporting IT or federal programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and organize clear, concise, and accurate documentation for both technical and non-technical users.
  • Experience with document editing and publishing tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Confluence).
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements and remediation tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Must be able to work the hours of 8am-5pm Eastern Time regardless of your home location
