Job Description:
A Systems Engineer will provide day-to-day management of virtualization server technologies in Epiq’s global datacenters, and will assist in the design and implementation of projects related to physical and virtual server infrastructure. Additionally, candidates should have experience performing VM migrations from one platform to another. This position requires L3 knowledge of VMware products in enterprise environments with 4000+ servers. Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems is required. Automation skills highly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deployment, management, upgrades, and support of VMware technologies
- Administration of VMWare vSphere 7.x and 8.x environments.
- Administration of ESX, DRS, HA, vSwitches, etc.
- Complex troubleshooting of VMware related issues
- Ability to use esxtop for console troubleshooting
- Utilize VMware PowerCLI and PowerShell for scripting/automation of tasks
- Capacity planning to ensure clusters remain in healthy state of oversubscription
- Use vRealize Operations to generate reports and identify systemic problems
- Create up-to-date documentation for all VMware systems
- Provides escalation support for VMware related incidents from L2 engineers
- Provide thoughtful review and guidance of VMware configurations
- Identify problem trends to improve the overall dependability of the environment and meet appropriate Service Level Agreements
- Coordinate vendor activity and support as an escalation point for issues
Education, Experience and/or Skills Required:
- Minimum of 5+ years VMware enterprise level experience
- Expert level (L3) technical knowledge of VMware technologies
- VMware Certification (VCP) preferred.
- Experience designing and implementing VM migration plans
- Experience migrating VMs from one virtualization platform to another
- Experience working in a lights-out enterprise class datacenter
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of ITIL and ITSM methods
- Ability to mentor and teach team members
- Windows Server and Linux experience strongly recommended
- Knowledge of open source virtualization solutions based on KVM optional
The Compensation range for this role is 71,592.30 - 143,185.20 USD annually and may be eligible for an annual bonus. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's location, skills, experience and qualifications.
