Job description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

TCGplayer promotes and drives growth of our products and services by connecting a global community of millions of buyers with tens of thousands of sellers in a $25B global collectible hobby market.  Our wide range of technology services, tools and features allows us to enable high-volume exchange of trading cards so sellers can maximize their returns and enthusiasts can get every card they want at a good price.  These tools range from our marketplace itself, to SaaS POS solutions for game stores, to high-volume fulfillment operations to robots capable of digitizing high volumes of TCGs.

In late 2022, TCGplayer was acquired by eBay as part of eBay’s strategy of focusing on categories where it has a unique ability to provide differentiated value to the marketplace. Since then, we have implemented back office integrations to improve services but, on the whole, TCGplayer is able to operate independently in order to continue directly addressing the needs of the hobby community.  From a business and a career perspective, this creates a situation that is the ‘best of both worlds’ - TCGplayer has autonomy to quickly adapt and meet the needs of the hobby community, while being supported by one of the world’s leading tech companies known for having a great work environment and supporting small businesses around the world.

Who You Are

Are you a 10x CTO, engineering leader looking for an opportunity to build unique customer-focused tools and make a massive impact?  TCGplayer is seeking a passionate and driven Chief Technology Officer, Head of Engineering to join us in our quest to build the most trusted platform to connect and empower the hobby community. We have seen substantial growth over the past few years and, with a best-in-class CTO, we have the potential and the vision to keep growing over multiple horizons.

As the CTO, Head of Engineering, you will lead our engineering department and be responsible for delivering customer value by working with the Product and Business teams to quickly build/rebuild a wide variety of quality features.  Our systems are key to bolstering customer trust by providing an experience that is reliable, efficient and secure. You will play a key role in shaping the technical vision of the company and driving the engineering team towards achieving excellence in code delivery and efficiency.

Successful technology cannot thrive in a vacuum. It requires teamwork across the organization. It is important that People, Process and Technology all work hand-in-hand to help us reach our goals. As CTO, you will be a key member of the TCGplayer Leadership team, representing technology while thinking broadly as a business leader as we work together to deliver our vision.

The Impact You Will Make Here
