MyTutor is the UK’s leading online platform for one-to-one learning, and we’re building a future where access to high-quality learning is stress-free for those who can afford it, and funded for those who can’t.

Our handpicked community of over 15,000 tutors work online with students from all walks of life and have already delivered over a million lessons. We’re proud of the fact that over 1,500 schools have chosen to work with us, and that we’ve earned a Trustpilot rating of 4.8/5 (You can also check out our tutors’ ratings here.)

Every role at MyTutor is open to applications from all sections of society. We see potential in every individual regardless of: race, ethnic origin or nationality; religion or belief; physical or neuro-ability; socio-economics or age; marital, domestic or civil partnership status; sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic that makes you… well, you.

What’s it all about?

This is an ongoing temporary role with ad-hoc assignments.

Are you a passionate Secondary School English Language and Literature teacher looking for a flexible, rewarding opportunity to teach students remotely? We are seeking an educator with QTS to deliver engaging online lessons to a UK school from the comfort of your home.

This role involves delivering online (remote) English Language and Literature lessons to individual pupils in a UK school, ensuring high-quality education. Teaching will be conducted remotely from within the UK, with medium-term planning provided, so you can focus on engaging and effective lesson delivery. You will also receive training on how to use the technology, ensuring a smooth and interactive learning experience for both you and your students.

Safeguarding is everyone’s business at MyTutor – we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults, and we expect all directors, staff and tutors to share this commitment. This post is regulated so you will need to hold a valid enhanced DBS check (including evidence of checks against the Children’s Barred List).

Contract Details

£35.00 per hour-long lesson.

This is a temporary, ad-hoc role with varying hours of work depending on the needs of the school. E.g. You may be asked to work 4 hours one week, 2 hours the next and 6 hours the week after.

Details regarding working days and hours will be confirmed when assignments are given to you. Though you can expect that these will be between Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 16:00.

Requirements

Who will you be?

N.B. We are looking for English Language and Literature teachers, not teachers of English as a foreign language. We ask that candidates only apply if they meet the criteria of having taught English Language & Literature as a school subject at GCSE and/or A-Level.

As the ideal candidate, you will hold a valid enhanced DBS check (including evidence of checks against the Children’s Barred List) and have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching English Language and Literature in UK Secondary schools. You should be tech-literate, confident in delivering lessons online, and available during the specified lesson times outlined above.

While prior experience teaching online and knowledge of the English Language and Literature specification is preferred, the role provides full training to support your transition into virtual teaching.

If you're an enthusiastic English teacher looking for a flexible, rewarding role, we'd love to hear from you!
