The Contractor Specialty Representative applies extensive product, technical, and installation expertise to promote USG ceiling systems with a strong focus on the full USG Interiors LLC portfolio of products, including USG Ceilings Plus / USG Specialty Ceilings & Ensemble Monolithic Acoustical Ceiling System, and establish strong relationships with the local USG Ceilings sales teams and support groups, ceiling contractors, installers, dealers, and local code officials. Position covers the Southwest Region and reports to the Regional Sales Manager –Ceilings Southwest. Must live in or within 30 miles of Houston, Austin, or Dallas, TX.
Position Description
• The majority focus of this position will be supporting the relationship between USG Interiors, LLC and Contractors throughout the territory.
• Improves USG sales and profits by converting target contractors to USG ceilings products using product demonstrations, mock-ups / technical sales presentations, and facetime with Ceiling Contractors and Distributors.
• Supports USG Commercial Sales Representatives, Specialty Sales Lead, Architectural Sales Representatives and Corporate Account Managers to improve relationships with contractors, installers, distributors, code officials, architects, owners, and other influencers.
• Improves the quality of USG's customer and technical service by providing customers with labor-saving solutions, installation expertise and related best practices.
• Increases USG and Dealer Sales Representatives' technical and product knowledge through training
• Increases the effectiveness and quality of USG products by working with research to improve existing systems and develop new capabilities and products, staying abreast of competitive activities and developing strategies to compete, and continually uncovering needs in the marketplace and formulating ideas to address.
Key Qualifications
• Construction Sales experience and industry knowledge. Ceilings sales and technical/installation expertise a plus.
• Thorough understanding and the ability to translate Shop Drawings, Reflected Ceiling Plans and installation details to the customer.
• Customer focused with strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and USG associates.
• Possess problem solving skills to determine cause of installation problems, evaluate implications and respond in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Demonstrated effective presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal • Articulate and projects a presence of success.
Education
• Bachelor's degree preferred. In lieu of degree, candidate should have equivalent field and industry experience.
Experience
• Minimum five (5) to ten (10) years construction industry or business-to-business sales experience.
• Experience with territory management preferred.
• Sales and technical/installation expertise, industry knowledge and sales aptitude or experience.
• Suspended ceiling installation and drywall application and finishing experience preferred.
Required Skills
• Strong computer, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to determine cause of installation problems, evaluate implications and respond in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Self-starter with very strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Physical requirements include the ability to work with airless texture sprayers and drive a pickup truck. Preferred Skills
• Past ceiling construction or contractor experience.
• Experience with CRM systems, preferably salesforce.com.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
