You will support our growth and the delivery of excellent business results. You will be responsible for converting in-depth shopping and retail environment insights into category, retail and customer strategies and recommendations. Also, you will have the responsibility to ensure shopping is integrated into marketing plans and programs as well as supporting the cross-category shopper insights agenda.

The Category Strategy Manager – Bars Category plays a critical role in the Category Strategy & Insights team, building insights & analytics capabilities to fuel our long-term growth ambitions across Category Management, Commercial & Digital Analytics. We work with BUs to integrate a shopper mindset into all Category growth ambitions. The Shopper Insights team also provides thought-leadership, shares best practices, and enhances shopper reporting.

Reporting to the Director of Category Strategy and Shelving, the Category Strategy Manager is responsible for driving growth through the execution of insights driven recommendations across category, channel, and Omni businesses to drive the ambition of being the best in class Snacking Partner for the consumer and retailer.

The role of Category Strategy Manager includes developing and implementing strategic plans that align with market trends, customer demands and business objectives. They analyze market data, consumer insights and competitor activities to make informed decisions regarding product selection, assortment, placement, and execution across categories and channels.

The Category Strategy Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including category management, marketing, and sales to develop and execute category-specific plans/strategies. Leveraging their expertise in understanding consumer behavior and market dynamics to drive increased category presence and engagement with consumers instore and online.

They will also ensure BUs leverage shopping and retail environment understanding and incorporate it into category, retail, and customer strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Expert as leveraging Consumer Panel data to uncover key shopper trends and foresight and ability to synthesize multi-source data into clear, meaningful insights and activation
  • Co-create consumer selling stories with Category Management teams integrating Channel or Customer specific shopper platforms and recommendations
  • Provide shelving recommendations based in consumer and product synergies to drive increased selection in store and online, through applications similar to but not limited to (JDA, Apollo, etc)
  • Drive action-oriented insights on innovation, communication and brand growth imperatives to shopper, customer and net revenue planning teams
  • Act as a subject matter expert on POS and panel data insights, fostering a culture of data and shopper-driven decision-making and by leading best practices and training to cross-functional teams

What extra ingredients you will bring:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree – Marketing, Social Science or Business Administration is preferred. Ideally candidate will have Masters in Marketing Research or related behavioral science discipline
  • Significant working experience in FMCG with either a manufacturer, retailer or agency, working within large matrix environments.
  • Expertise within syndicated data platforms (Nielsen, Circana, Numerator, etc.) across POS and Shopper Panels
  • Experience in using retailer / customer data, shopper insights and analytics to develop compelling retail customer plans and category/shopper growth stories, ideally in the FMCG/CPG industry
  • Excellent communication skills and able to drive effective discussions in highly matrixed organizations - Experience managing and influencing senior stakeholders, key customers and cross functional teams/stakeholders including sales, consumer insights and external agencies.
  • Experience in building compelling insight from multi data sources to drive business decisions. Able to develop learning and best practices principles.
  • Familiar with common shopper insights methodologies, including ethnographies, shopalongs, surveys, etc.  Preferred candidates will have experience designing, commissioning, and executing research studies.
  • Digital Commerce insights and analytics experience in driving omni JBP’s and growth strategies.
  • Strong conceptual and analytic skills – enjoys problem solving and good at dealing w/ ambiguity
  • Strong knowledge and usage of market/customer/shopper segmentation models
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

The base salary range for this position is $117,400 to $161,425; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
