Job description

Overview

The Bioinformatics Intern will evaluate published single cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis techniques, pipelines and methodologies to support improvements and modifications to our existing scRNA-seq bioinformatics pipelines. It is not expected that this role will require extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will be expected to accurately and succinctly summarize their work in a 10-15 minute presentation at the culmination of their internship.

Responsibilities

Develop familiarity with the scRNA-seq technique and scRNA-seq analysis best practices.
Work with Bioinformatics Scientists to identify and evaluate novel scRNA-seq analysis tools.
Document their analysis, code and findings in detailed notebooks.
Identify and propose improvements to existing scRNA-seq analysis pipelines.
Prepare a short presentation describing their key findings.

Education

Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Immunology, Biology, Mathematics or relevant field.
Familiarity with Shell, R or Python.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Candidates should possess strong attention to detail and be comfortable taking initiative.
