ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure, ensuring robust security measures, and maintaining seamless network connectivity. This role requires a deep understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and expertise in billing account management, network connectivity, security measures, access management, and backup and disaster recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and consolidate all cloud accounts, ensuring seamless transfer of billing ownership to the appropriate department.
  • Collaborate with the Security Operations team to transfer root account ownership and configure additional security settings following best practices.
  • Implement budgets and set up spending alerts to monitor and control cloud costs.
  • Review and sign up for cost-saving programs to secure discounted pricing for predictable resources.
  • Set up interconnects between cloud environments and external networks.
  • Configure appropriate network policies and rules across on-premises and other cloud environments.
  • Implement robust security measures, including identity and access management, data encryption, and network/firewall controls.
  • Collaborate with the Security team to apply best practices for securing data and workloads.
  • Centralize logging into a log aggregator for auditing purposes, including cloud audit logs and network flow logs.
  • Implement Single Sign-On (SSO) with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for console and programmatic access.
  • Utilize directory services for access management.
  • Enforce IAM policies and appropriately assign access permissions for different teams, adhering to the principle of least privilege.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on GCP.
  • Strong understanding of cloud billing, network connectivity, security measures, access management, and backup and disaster recovery.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
