Position Overview

The Product Owner focuses on our data engineering services, ensuring we deliver valuable data-based solutions internally and to our customers and partners. Additionally, the Product Owner will contribute to a collaborative environment where usable, viable, and feasible solutions are developed to meet the business needs of customers. 

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.

  • Work from a vision instead of being solely task-oriented 
  • Understand work objectives from multiple perspectives and levels including the executive level 
  • Work closely with product management to understand their strategic vision and how it relates to individual products being developed 
  • Work with product management and other project stakeholders to elicit business requirements and document in form of feature, user stories, data mapping, dataflow etc; collaborate on the development of metrics to determine product success 
  • On an ongoing basis, focus efforts to deliver on the product roadmap which balances long-term vision and time-to-market pressure with periodic marketable releases 
  • Create workflow diagrams as needed to illustrate requirements 
  • Track development of Data Ingestion Service 
  • Work with the application teams to get connected to ingestion service once built (and facilitating troubleshooting) 
  • Work with the implementation and Tier2 teams to transition CDE to custom reports (or Insights +) in collaboration with success manager and pro-services 
  • Analyze stored procedure to understand business logic and document data mapping, data flows 
  • Leverage technical experience to communicate product needs to the development team through story grooming; able to question/challenge development and QA resources to facilitate constructive brainstorming and solution design 
  • Work with distributed teams during development & QA to provide guidance and ensure business requirements and functional specifications are met 
  • Review test cases and provide feedback to QA team periodically 
  • Build strong business relationships across functional teams involved in releasing or supporting the solution and ensure a smooth transition of new products and features into production 
  • Deliver consistent, clear, and timely communication (both written and verbal) to project stakeholders 
  • Identify, track and help remove impediments adversely affecting delivery expectations 
  • Manage team resource needs, risks, issues, project scope and contingency plans, while escalating to leadership when appropriate 
Qualifications

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Information Technology 
  • Familiarity with project management principles 
  • Familiarity with agile development principles 
  • Understanding of databases, data modeling and data architecture principles 
  • Understanding of SQL syntax to conduct data analysis, including Stored Procedures to understand and extrapolate business logic and document data flows 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • Experience in working with cloud providers (eg. AWS, Azure, GCP) 
  • Experience with data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift), data lakes and ETL pipeline 
  • Experience working with data engineering, analytics team to build data solutions 
  • Familiarity with a programming or scripting language (e.g. Python, Javascript, R, SQL, etc.) 
  • Familiar in one or more industry-standard prototyping tools (e.g., Invision, Figma, Balsamiq, etc.)
